In February at the start of my C25K journey, I earmarked Saturday 6th July as my first Parkrun.

I'm about to start wk9 and covering about 3.8k. What can i say, I've found it tough going!!! Hmmmm, do I still give it a go? Advice and guidance from fellow runners please.

Give it a go, I did it with my 6 year old last week and he took his time down from 42 mins to 37 for the same course. Parkrun people do it for the love of running, they'll wait patiently from stragglers and still cheer you on as you finish ;-)

That sounds delightful. I will seek out a local Parkrun. But you say your 6 year old dropping from 42 to 37 minutes!!! Wow - what on earth do you feed him? That sounds fantastic! Must be great doing it with your son.

He's 6, but built like a 9 yo with a rather competitive nature, he hated the fact that he was last. Mind he only dropped to last in the final few minutes.

Sounds to be a star! Tell him WELL DONE from me for finishing! Hope you have many more good runs together!

I started my C25K journey week 1 run 1 at my local park run, I just did the podcast, which obviously didn't get me to the end of the 5K, but once the podcast finished, I just carried on walking and running as far as I could. I made it to the end in a time of approx 46 mins. There were all abilities there, I wasn't the last one to finish. I did the same the following week, and improved my time by 2 mins, which I was pleased with. In between, I have just followed the podcast in my local park. I have done ZERO excercise before that, so if I can do it, anyone can. The bonus is you have an official log of your times, and I hope to steadily improve my times as I progress. I have just done my Week 3 run 1, and am happy with the progress. Good luck :) x

Just go for it, taking part in an event (!) is quite different to just doing the 30mins having done a 5k last Sunday at the start of my week 9. Tonight I have graduated and think the idea of the park run is really good. The fact I want to go on and do a Race for Life which was the original aim of starting C25K is a bonus having already achieved both goals.

Tell us how you got on next week,
