I'm on week 4, run 3 will be on Friday. I've been thinking about doing the local park run, by wondering if it's a bit to early and also being my run is Friday and park run is Saturday if it would be a bit to much.
I've been doing C25K on the treadmill but today I hit the pathway. Found it went quicker due to thinking which way to go.
Hi Sookie, I'd be hesitant about running on consecutive days, especially if you haven't done before, I do it very occasionally, and I've now been running ages!
As for parkrun, do it, do it, do it π......I'd forgo the run on Friday (every time! For parkrun) my one wish is that I'd have gone to parkrun sooner than I did......it's great, you'll love it, I promise. - do it, then come back here and tell us all about it π
If your that keen to do Parkrun don't do your next run on Friday but leave it until Saturday at Parkrun, you can juggle the days around a bit to suit you.
I did my first Parkrun on w6 and started at the back of the pack with the warm up walk did the c25k run then of course had to walk a lot of it. It'll give you a good introduction to PR. Just mention to the run director when you arrive that you're doing c25k, they'll understand and spur you on..But don't be tempted to run more than you should...Only run your c25k times..π
Hi, you are doing so well on the programme! If you are doing a parkrun use it instead of your friday run, consecutive runs are not a good idea.
If you are tracking the distance you are currently covering including your warm up and cool down walks, you will get a good idea of the additional ground you will need to cover at parkrun. Then make a decision as to if you think the time is right. As davelinks said, only run the programme times, please don't be tempted to do more at this stage.
Parkrun is great and you will love it Im sure. Just dont attempt it too soon and get overwhelmed by the distance. If you need to wait until your longer constant runs on the programme to do your first PR so what, after that you can do as many as you want!
just do it. have double rest day and do some other activities like cycling maybe? i did my first one last week. at c2k5 week 5 and i was fine. just kept it an an easy pace. and dont worry about walking some of it too. some people walk the whole thing
Many thanks for the replies.
I'm 99% sure I'm going to go for it. Will take Laura W5r3 with me. I've no idea of the distance I did today as I use my old very old iPod. My Fitbit zip is saying I've done 4 miles but then I had already done 3k steps before I went running. Perhaps in a few weeks time I will treat myself to a more upto date gadget that will tell me.
Enjoy! Don't get carried along too fast at the start and you will be absolutely fine πππΌββοΈ
Definitely do the parkrun. As long as you're realistic and don't expect to race the whole way round at the front .....Just take it at your own pace, walk when necessary and enjoy running with other people. Good luck and hope you will love it as much as I do.

I walk faster than I jog at the moment. π I'm sure I will be one of the last to finish, but I'm sure the accomplishment alone makes up for that.
Good luck for the parkrun. I am doing my first (hopefully) this weekend too. Have always been nervous of running with other people. I hope you have a blast
I use Parkrun as my 3rd run of the week and as the podcast runs out before the Parkrun finishes, I tend to just reset it and start again for as much as I can, but make sure not to overdo it and walk a fair bit of it. Since starting C25K I have taken 3 minutes off my Parkrun, but it is still very slow at 46:02, but I never thought I would even manage that. I too will be attempting Week 5 Run 3 on Saturday and think the jump to 20 minutes running is a big one, but am sure we can both do it. Good luck.
My advice would be to complete the course first - I did my 1st PR as my graduation run & despite having done all the C25K runs & homeworks I still felt under-prepared & I was quite down about my time & how much it took out of me. Our C25K group has kept running together & we have now done 3 Park Runs - improving each time. Don't be too impatient, however it will be a lot easier for you if you're young & fit instead of old & fat like me!!!!!!!1
My thighs feel Like dead weights today. Putting that down to running outside instead of the treadmill. Plus I've been doing loads of walking. So today is going to be a real lazy day.
I really appreciate all the replies.
I can promise everyone I won't go mad, I will finish it even if I crawl over the finish line. But I know I will be walking most of the way. Just hoping my thighs stop aching. Asap.
