It feels so good to have got through week 1. Breathing feels better and run sections 6 7 and 8 still quite tough. What I can't get over is how much I look forward to doing the sessions. It's such a massive relief to get to the end of 8th run. I am going to give week 2 a go but unsure whether I will manage 90 seconds.

HURRAY Week 1/3 completed!!!!!!!
Hi Mazzero,
I kept doing the same podcast until I felt happy to move on. I found the running got hard at week 4. You can perhaps design the course to suit but stick to it. It took me 15 weeks to complete the 9 week course. Keep going. You are doing so well.
Thanks for your helpful comments. I was thinking that I should stay on week 1 but to be honest I would always be hesitant about stepping up a level. I really want to keep going so if this means taking longer that's fine. So long as I stay motivated and shift some pounds lol
Well done Mazzero for getting through week 1! Getting the breathing right is half the battle of running, so well done you on getting it sorted. I used to swear a lot at Laura from run section 6-8 on week 1, but surprisingly week 2 seemed easier.
Good luck with week 2. I'm sure you'll manage 90 seconds
The breathing does improve. I promise. I found it really difficult at first. But don't forget, every difficult run you do, you are laying the foundations for the next one. Your body has to be challenged in order to get stronger, grow the muscle, get fitter. (Or something like that!)
Well done on completing week 1. This is just the start of your fabulous journey.
Thank you for your reassurance. Since starting the programme I feel the need to cough to clear the phlegm so hopefully that will improve my respiratory system. I'm lucky to be able to run on the rugby field at the back of my house. It's private and the groundsmen are quite bemused I think but make encouraging comments too.
Hi and well done for surviving the whole of Week 1! I agree with MumOnTheRun - you'll probably find week 2 easier because there are fewer runs! Yes, they are a tiny bit longer, but so too are the walking respites! I'm asthmatic and couldn't do all 8 runs at all in the beginning! Think I managed them all after repeatedly trying about 5 or 6 times. However, I believe my lungs benefitted enormously and improved in incredibly short time - I found W2 easier and W3 too, after all that I learned to breathe steadily and calmly and was able to concentrate more on my feet, legs and posture for later weeks.
Enjoy your groundsmen, I started out at the local cricket ground ... They're full of happy quips, eh? Soon they'll be standing back in awe of your athletic brilliance, determination, and improved fitness! Good luck with week 2. Cheers, Linda x
After run 3 of week 1 I felt very unsure about moving on to week 2. However, after reading everyone's blogs and messages on here about going slow and steady I decided to do one more run on week 1 - what a difference!
Week 2 onwards seemed so much easier (not easy, just easier). Move on at a pace that suits you, repeat runs if necessary, but do not get hung up about it.
Happy running!
Thank you for helpful comments. I think I will try week 2 and if its too tough will step back down to week 1. I feel that it is more important to keep going irrespective of how long it takes. I am enjoying it so much I don't want to be defeated. Reading the blogs and getting such wonderful support has been so helpful. What stage are you at now?
