Just back from 8/2. Finding it very hard and I am as slow as a slug.
I am running around the grassy verge of the farmers fields. I wonder whether I am making my life unnecessarily hard? The grass is really quite long in places. Should I switch to Tarmac roads for 8/3??

I find running on grass the hardest surface, its nice for a change as part of a run but a whole run around and around a field would be very difficult and boring.Can you try and slot the field into perhaps 1K out on the road and then back with a couple of loops of the field to finish just a suggestion. Good luck on getting to week 8 almost there now, well done.
I agree with oldgirl, running on grass does seem hard work, especially longer grass, and tussocky stuff is the worst. Although tarmac is hard on the soles of the feet, and the knees, I find it easier overall than grass.
I agree with Oldgirl & greenlegs. I do almost all my running on tarmac or compacted paths (canal towpath, for example). Grass is OK for a short break but I wouldn't want to run it on all the time.
By running on a tougher surface you will strengthen your legs more, and when you come to a road run, you will have the edge. It's the same with the way I teach navigation to Scouts ~ if they can learn to navigate on Dartmoor in the fog, they can navigate anywhere ~ I hope!
I find running on roads really hard, especially when Laura is plugged in as you are always looking around for cars!! Running in a park area with trails really suits my running style and my distance and speed improves! Good luck and keep it up
I run on tarmac, compacted paths and some grass, although it is not overgrown. I do find that this combination strengthens my legs especially as some of the ground undulates slightly. When on flat tarmac I find my pace is better and faster. You will, over time, find out what works best for your own running programme. Good luck with your future runs.
