Swollen stomach??

So yesterday during w5r1 I got an unbelievable pain above my stomach area. Kind of between belly button and rib cage. I carried on going but during my 5 min warm down I was in agony. Got home and collapsed on sofa and realised I was very swollen/bloated as well (could see it and feel it).

The pain went after about 2 hours but it was just bizarre. It felt like I was pulling my tummy in the whole time. Wasn't like a stitch (or no stitch I've ever had).

Any ideas??

May have been excess wind causing the pain and bloatiness

I'd love to say it was but it was more of a muscle pain. Like I'd been punched repeatedly. Still slightly swollen today but the pains gone.

That sounds like dehydration to me, if it happens again drink water slowly but quite a lot of it (2 glasses). You could have dilute juice too, or fruit teas but I would stay away from tea or coffee unless its decaf.

I had a swollen stomach and pain in my right side (was afraid it was appendicitis) in W2 or 3. Any movement caused the pain to increase but would gradually subside when I carried on till I did something different. Google told me it could be dehydration or muscle pull and so drank lots of water which seemed to help. Went to GP who told the same thing plus said could be due to the C25K effort after leading such a sedentary lifestyle. I still have slight pull on the right side sometimes when I am running but it goes away immediately. Hope that helped

Thanks for the responses. Glad to see you went through something similar bullseye7 and its nothing serious.

Funnily enough I couldn't get myself to drink anything after that run, whereas usually I'm desperate for about a gallon of water. Did w5r2 today and (touch wood) everythings been ok. Still slight pain every now again but I'm chucking the water down.

I have the dreaded w5r3 on Thursday, although I'm feeling quite positive about it at the moment. Will have to make sure I'm well hydrated before that.
