It seems many of us are attempting a parkrun tomorrow and that seems a great thing to me. We happy multitude who have raised bottoms from couch and intend running, jogging, staggering, limping or walking for 5km tomorrow are celebrating a great achievement. Knowing that the thought of this just a few short weeks ago would have filled me with dread is something I hope most of us can share, so when I stagger over that finish line I am going to count it as one of life's little victories.
I doubt there will be a medal for 159th (or worse) place but I am tempted to print out my result and frame it. With this in mind I have decided to post 3 goals in increasing hope of achievement:
1. Complete not compete. If I can run the whole way then that will be great.
2. Go faster than twice the quickest current course time, i.e. under 32:36.
3. Beat my 5k PB of 32:14.
Pre injury my 5k time would have been 30:44, that would be something of a leap up so I doubt I will get close to that but maybe one day!
Good luck everyone running tomorrow in parkruns and I would love to hear if you have any goals and then see how you get on.
