I'm working my way through the 5k+ podcasts - will probably do them at least twice - then going to start on the B210k podcasts.

I just schedule in a run every other day at the same time (first thing) so I don't really have to think about whether I want to do it or not. Working so far!

Was looking at B210K and think it's probably a good idea because it has the structure thing to it. The 5K+ casts look quite minimal though - how are you getting on with those so far?

I'm enjoying them. I think they're good.

I know exactly what you mean - I graduated last summer and sdid the race for life, but then life got in the way and I just lost the motivation totally. I started again after Christmas, and I'm determined not to do the same thing again.

I think the main thing is having something to aim for - without that it's practically impossible to keep going. Even if it's personal goals, I just need something to work towards.

I signed up for a 10K which is in a couple of weeks and I'm gradually upped my distance for that. After the 10K, I'm doing a 5K in July, and my goal before that will be to improve my 5K time. I'm hoping the extra fitness the 10K training has given me will help with that.

I seem finally to be sdtarting to lose weight now - maybe my muscles have done as much growing as they need to, and the fat is still going, so maybe after the 5K I'll set myslf a weight goal...?

I don't know, but a variety of short-ish term, achievable goals seem to be working for me at the mo.

Oh, and if you can persuade your partner or someone else to take it up, they'll be very good at guilting you into going out - that's worked for me as well!! :-)

Good luck!! :-)

I draw up a training schedule for each month with my runs and other activities (yoga class, Swiss Ball class, cycle ride) allocated to each day. I state what my run will be eg Tempo, Intervals, and Long Slow Distance run and how long or how far I'm planning to run. I also leave a space to write what I actually did each day.

Plus I have short-term goals, eg for this month this was to compete in two 10K races I'd entered.

my first goal after graduating was to get to that magic 5k! I need a goal or I dont have the motivation to get out there & push myself. perhaps 5k for you aswell if you havent got there yet? then it was running for 40mins, then I found the Bridge to 10K plan & did that & eventually (almost 18 months after starting) signed up for a half marathon, which I did in march. a couple of weeks after that & after saying never again I signed up for another one in september. as I said, I need something to aim for & get me out of the door :)

are you still enjoying running? I found the first few runs after graduating a bit of an anti-climax & it also took me a couple of months to become comfortable with running for 30mins solid. it does get easier if this is the problem.

good luck. shelley x

Thanks, yeah, I definitely still enjoy running - it's just life getting in the way. I completely get what you mean about the anti-climax thing though. I've heard a lot of people talking about B210K so I might give that a go to regain some structure.

Not what you're looking for?
