Pulmonary rehab today

Went to pulmonary rehabilitation class today second time around. Lady there last week appeared to be gasping for her breath.last week. She asked if I was ok as breathless, my breathing has not been great since last week Friday, I said yes fine. She said she had emphysima for about 30 years, she does get breathless and when she over does it gasping when she exceeds herself..she isn't on oxygen and worked right up to 3 years ago where she looked after her mom for 3 before she died. She said she smoked 11 years after diagnosis...I wonder if that made a difference...she is stage 3 severe. Made me realise this disease does affect people in different ways...not what I thought someone at stage 3 would be like, still hate having emphysima hate hate hate it but I realise I may not be on oxygen. I am beginning to realise no two people are the same...

Good luck with your PR course, I hope you get lots out of it and just as important carry on with the exercises after the course is over.

Hi Emily, smoking, being around any thing that burns, fires, wood burners, fireplace as well as strong smelling cleaners, perfumes, candles, air freshners.etc. Those are what harm's our lungs as well as normal lungs. Which over the age of 35 smoker or not is rare, we live in a polluted world and it's been polluted.

The person who smoked 11 years after diagnoses, while it is completely her decision, probably caused more harm than helped herself. Also, emphysema...is how it is spelled correctly. Have a good day
