Hi all,I posted here about 2 years ago with bleeding etc but I was pregnant so they wouldnt do anything!
So i had the colonoscopy last May and the took the polyp out (2cm) and it was a tubulovillous adenoma polyp. I had a few small ones aswell but they were hyperplastic so benign 👍
Fast forward ive had surgery for endometriosis and i had issues with it on my bowel and im wondering if its all connected somehow?! Ive gone into a spiral again as i think a tubulovillous adenoma polyp could of turned nasty if left and it just makes my anxiety worse.
How long do polyps usually take to grow back (if they do)? Im having issues (no bleeding thankfully) since having my laparoscopy 3 months ago but im hoping its just the recovery although it seems to be taking forever.
Im just wondering if having the endometriosis caused the bowel polyps as they were both on the left of my bowel.
Sorry for the huge post im struggling with things (but am getting some therapy soon) at the moment. Seems to have gone downhill for me recently 😔
Interesting question. I’m not sure if endometriosis would cause polyps in the bowel. Definitely write that down and ask your doctor next time you see him.
I also haven’t seen anything where a polyp would regrow. I think anything that reappears or appears in a follow up colonoscopy would be just a new growth. Since they did find polyps what kind of surveillance procedure are you on to see if there’s any new polyps being developed?
I’m on the hereditary high-risk plan. I get an annual colonoscopy and ACT scan. I have lunch syndrome, so we need to stay ahead of things and catch anything early.
I hope everything is going well with the little one. I know you had to put off your colonoscopy during pregnancy.
Hi Tom thank you for your reply. It just seems like a coincidence as a lot of where the endometriosis is, is where my polyps were (left side).Ive been told to go back in 3 years, so would be 2026 but because ive worked myself up so much over it the past week the doctor has told me to do a fit test (ive had recent surgery (3 months ago) for the endo and my bowels have been all over the place and im so scared to do the test. Im getting flashbacks to when i had the positive result. I will do it but im terrified of the outcome.
Baby is good, not far off 2 now! Thank you for asking 😊 it has been a very stressful 2 years to be honest x
I hear you. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't something described "tubulovillous adenoma polyp" precancerous? Perhaps, ask the doctor's office. Knowing that, I would think 3 years isn't appropriate to do some surveillance. I would think 1 year.
Is your FIT test also doing some kind of sequencing of the blood to determine if there are dead cancer cells? The technology is called Galleri. Some other companies do it as well. It's a liquid biopsie. It's won't detect precancerous things and has a low % of finding stage 1 cancers. Very good detecting 2-4. But it can be used as a surveillance test as well.
It just sounds like your doctor is determining the need of a colonoscopy surveillance based on blood in the stool after a tubulovillous adenoma polyp was found and I hope removed.
This is just me ... but I always viewed these tests and the results as playing offense and being able to discover things early. It's a huge benefit to have and keeps you from being blindsided by something in a late stage. My oncologist once said to me ... "you know that tumor we took out of you in 2012 was a polyp in 2006." I just said, yep. I never got screened. These tests are your friend. They are a tool you can use to fight health issues. Yes, sometimes they tell you things you don't want to hear, but they are always things you need to hear.
And Yeah ... the baby is doing well.👍👏❤️ That's great. If you have to stress, let it be over the baby and not your health. This health thing needs to be put behind you. Get that 3 years moved up.👍I think you'll have less stress👏💪👍😁❤️
Yes i think so, im just going by what the NHS told me (im in the uk) it might be different everywhere else?Ive had blood tests done and they said theyre ok, i think its because ive mentioned that my toilet habits are all over the place at the moment they just want to make sure there is no blood hidden anywhere.
I hate having health anxiety it really ruining daily life x
Work on getting that 3 year check moved up. I think it could be beneficial. I would ask if it is "pre-cancerous", why are we 3 years out for checking it again?👍❤️
I my case a doctor who had treated me for HEP C told me when I was all finished that everyone over 50 should have a colonoscopy and I was just over 50 so I had her do it. She found 4 polyps, two of the type that can turn into cancer. She removed them and said to come back in 1 year. One year after she said I had two tiny ones like pimples and she zapped them and said come back in another 3 years. Three years later, nothing, so come back in 5. Five years later, nothing so come back in 7. After 4 years, trouble going to the bathroom and a large tumor. They removed the tumor and gave me an ileostomy that was reversed a year later. I had a 10-inch scar and some small ones from laparoscopy. There was 6 months of chemo. My dad, his brother and two of my cousins plus my grandfather on the other side, all had colon cancer and yet I tested negative for the gene. I am now 75 and going every tree year for a colonoscopy as well as an endoscopy for a bit of Barrettes that runs in the family as well. I think it’s amazing how that tumour developed in the four years and cannot stress enough how important it is to have regular colonoscopies. Obviously, 7 years is way too long
