So i’m 18f i’ve been to the doctors three times in three months pushing for a colonoscopy as my stool has been constantly thin or just in small pieces, they told me i have ibs mixed and that im too young to be worrying about colon cancer, my stool test and all blood test came back great. I’m still worried about my poop size but the doctor told me i shouldn’t be worrying and that it can be normal to have constant small sizes if i have ibs mixed 🤷♀️ however still have that thought in the back of my head, i don’t really have other symptoms apart from cramping sometimes and dizziness! health anxiety isn’t great which is why im posting on here, i know for an actual piece of mind i need a colonoscopy however just thought i could reach out for a piece of mind here. To add to my poop sizes for as long as i remember i used to go the bathroom right after eating like everytime, and it would be loose stools. However i believe since around september that hasn’t occurred and ive been constipated on and off. I’ve started watching what i eat and im able to go 1-2 times everyday but the stool sizes are still what i would say small, flat or ribbon.

Hi alliyahballs,
Thanks for posting with us. I am proud of you in that you’re not ignoring symptoms.👍👏👏. Yes, you are young and that’s a huge advantage. I also know symptoms are symptoms and they know no age. There could be a lot of reasons for what you are experiencing. What was the solution for dealing with with IBS if it is indeed IBS?
Question, is there a family history involving your symptoms, cancer, ibs? Family history of polyps being found during colonoscopies?
You had a FIT stool test performed and it came out negative? CEA measured in your blood?
so as far as i know, no family history of colon cancer. I believe my mother has ibs, all test came back negative and no worries with my blood test, it’s just the stool size that causes me stress but the doctors say it’s nothing to worry about. I can’t help but stress and nothing is actually confirmed. The solution was a fodmap and probiotics, i have seen some changes and i do believe it’s based on my diet so im attempting to add more fibre into it which is causing frequent passing. Still health anxiety causes me to constantly overthink!
Yeah, I take fiber as well. It is good for my situation as well and a normal thing to be doing.
You should feel good. I'd say you are kind of "dialing it in" and figuring out solutions. I have a big heath history and find I have developed foods I put in the "circle of trust" and it's not big🤔. I'm pretty consistent with it. If I see changes, I can usually attribute it to too much of some one thing or something new I've added or tried because I wanted to. When I retreat back into the circle, I do get back to my normal. I do feel I control it this way.
Hi so a new thing just occurred i passed a loose stool and i notice 2 small dots of mucusy blood, got me worried! should i call the doctors…
Is it pretty consistent seeing this? There's a FIT test that can tell you if there is blood in the stool. Some are obtainable over the counter. Your doctor could surely get that for you as well.👍
Hi, i only noticed it yesterday it was literally 2 small specs of like slimy blood content. Sorry for the graphic detail! it wasn’t extreme and i haven’t noticed it before as since January i have been constantly checking my stools as i’ve been paranoid lol! so you can imagine my anxiety after finally seeing this. it occurred after a period of diarrhoea but the substance was more slimy like, like mucus. another graphic detail is my stools have been very orange! i’m thinking i might’ve ate something that has upset my stomach and is causing an ibs flare as im not constipated anymore!
If you ate 'something' that has upset your stomach, would that 'something' be a new food you haven't had before or for a long time? Could that be a part of what is going on?
i mean i had a takeaway on friday, it might be from that that’s causing the upset. Due to not having one in a long time because i’ve been restricting my diet and sticking to plain foods.
Yeah ... in my case I figured out an issue with peanut butter. I used to eat a lot of it as a kid. Now I find I can only eat so much at one time. Too much and I get diarrhea and I know exactly why. I back off of it and I eventually return to my "normal".
I like a little bit of spicy with chicken, but I get the same reaction as the peanut butter. Too much and I end up paying for it.
