can flucloxacillin cause very dark/black poo

I’ve been put on flucloxacillin for infected wound I’m worrying now as my poo since has turned very dark/black.

Hi foxglove1,

Have you changed any other things like eating habits since going on flucloxacillin? Hydration plays a big role when on this drug. Nausea is common as far as side effects. Is any of that occurring?

Thank you GCCA no change but perhaps not enough water. I alsomade the mistake of taking my last pill of the day at night and in bed. Terrible heartburn, something I do not suffer from.

I was on the larger dose of 500mg 4 times a day.

I don’t want to visit A&E (at all) trying to think what to do, being a Sunday.

The plus side is I don’t feel unwell and no blood in stool just very very dark.

👍 ok, definitely up the hydration. Hydration was huge for me and still is. You’re learning to adjust to it.

Maybe someone else on this site has some experience with flucloxacillin and can share the experience.
