Hi Lee57,

Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you're having to go through all this.

I am proud that you are taking the steps to get answers. When something seems "off" or you are experiencing bowel movements or other symptoms that are abnormal for you, it is important to be examined by a doctor. Exactly what you are doing. Blood is definitely a sign and there can be many causes of it. Need to get answers.

Having positive FIT results can cause a lot of anxiety, and I would recommend doing your best not to get ahead of being sure you have bowel cancer. I know this is really difficult to do. You do have a consult scheduled. Is the consult to schedule a colonoscopy? We recommend that you put your energy into getting the colonoscopy scheduled. A positive FIT is not a bowel / colorectal cancer diagnosis, but we do know that it can cause a great deal of anxiety. And the way to deal with the anxiety is to get good answers.

Also, it would be good to know if there is a family history out there for you?

We do wish you the best in finding the results. I would hope the consult is for the colonoscopy. Please let us know what you find out. Information like this can definitely help others.

Thank You,

~Tom, GCCA Survivor - Colon Cancer Connected Site Administrator.
