Blood in stool here and there

Hi all have blood in stool here and there. I've had an ridoculosly itchy rectum for 6 years done stool tests dr say prutis ani and I have to live with it. Now blood last 2 bowel movements. I'm worried. I've always have bleeding here there and a week ago I went to hospital with unbearable pain which was like trapped wind. Blood again today but was constipated as no bm for 5 days. I had a colonoscopy 3 yrs ago all normal. Is that enough to say I don't have anything sinister could they have missed something? I think itching , bleeding here and there, wind, cramps all 6 years now given creams and your ok but im so scared when I see the blood .

Hi Contra21,

Good to hear from you again but wish you were not having the issues.

I would think getting to the bottom of the blood in bowel movements is warranted. Whether another colonoscopy is needed is up to you and your GP. It's definitely good your last colonoscopy was normal. It doesn't sound like anything sinister as there can be many reasons for blood in the stool. It's definitely something to get checked out to know for sure the cause. Your GP can help you get it sorted out.

As always, we wish you the very best. Please let us know what you find out as it can help others dealing with similar things.

Thank You ...

Sounds like your DR is trying to confirm your "blood last 2 bowel movements". Hopefully there will be further consultations to determine the underlying issue. Your stool test will probably come back positive for blood as you already have seen this. That will be nothing new. Please don't be terrified. You're pursuing answers and that's a good thing.🤟❤️

But it might not come back positive, last 2 bm I've had no blood now..

ok. That's good. You're right. Given the last 2 bm, it may not come back positive. But if it does, please don't be terrified as you know you've had some blood in the past. Either way, try to sort out what may be going on to cause your issue. You're after answers to put your mind at ease and solve any issues that may be continuing.

I dint want bad news. Is it only bad if every bm has bleeding? Also can anything change from a colonoscopy 3 years ago?

Yes, I see what you are saying. You got the test because you were bleeding. And now sometimes you are not. Having it come back as positive can be considered "bad" news but knowing you've had blood before, it shouldn't be a shocker. Even if it comes back negative, that's good. But you still want to cover with your DR what may be the reason for the blood showing up, then goes away, then may come back, etc. You just want answers as to what may be causing the blood to show up when it does.

Can anything change from a colonoscopy 3 years ago? It all depends on the individual. It is possible but a very low likelihood if you are low risk. Please cover that question with your doctor. That would be your best "go to" for that information concerning you.

Just an fyi ... I am a high risk patient. I know this. My doctors know this. I get a colonoscopy every year just to be sure if something does show up, we'll catch it early. And every 3 years I get an endoscopy. Yeah for me😮😂.

Please don't panic. Focus on getting answers. You're doing fine by getting it checked out. 👍🤟

If it's good news she will so you have to live with the itching, she did a rectal exam said no fissure or hemmoroid. So she say you prob your your skin from scratching as for 6 years I've had itching back there and no answers

I would think another colonoscopy is in order. I had one three years ago and had a perfectly healthy colon. Just had another because of a high FIT test. I had four polyps removed , diverticulosis and haemorrhoids. Luckily no cancer. So your problems need to be investigated, I would think. Hope you can get some help from your doctor. My son lives in Australia and I know has to pay for medical insurance. Good luck Irene

Don't know what that is

Haemorrhoids can make you itch. Also bleeding. If your FIT test is clear you still want to know why the bleeding. The only way is a colonoscopy in my opinion. It does mean making sure you take all the prep to have a clean colon. So the surgeon can see all around. Thank goodness I did, as some who do not have to come back because vision is impacted. There are many reasons for blood as it was with me. Try not to worry. Just get checked out and then it can be sorted. Irene

I might just add someone on here recommended a portable bidet. Amazon sell them. It is a bottle of sorts, you use it instead of toilet paper. They say it is the best thing and also take it out with them. Has stopped the soreness and itching . I might try one.
