I'm about to be 20, and for maybe a year, I've been having blood when I poop. It started with just a little on the toilet paper when I wipe, but it's gotten worse. I had pretty big blood clot yesterday that was kinda dark red, and another one today that was a little smaller. There was also blood like dripping into the toilet it looked it? I'm not going through any major changes in my life or anything and I'm not super stressed. I don't have any pain, but sometimes I get abdominal discomfort. I don't have regular bowel movements either. Sometimes I have looser stool but other times I feel constipated. When I go, it doesn't feel like my bowel is completely empty all the time. Does anyone know what this could be??? I thought about hemorrhoids or maybe a fissure but I don't have any leaking or pain... I don't know. Some help!

Blood Clots & Bloody Stool??? Please help!
Do you have any mucus with it?
Not not usually. I have a few times over the time that I've been bleeding but that's uncommon for me. Mostly just blood. I went to the doctor today and they checked for hemorrhoids and anemia and it's neither of those. I'm seeing a gastrointestinal specialist Monday morning. Should I be worried?
I had those symptoms and it was cancer I don’t want to frighten you but I would get a colonoscopy ASAP you have one thing in your favour, you are very young. So it might be something else. Good luck
You are very young and the likelihood of it being something serious is very very slim, almost like 1 out of 100,000 so try and stay calm. This could be an internal hemorrhoid or even some sort of colitis or even crohns which usually develops when you’re a young adult from what I have read and seen in forums. Get it checked it as they have medicine that can send these flare ups to remission.
Okay!! That makes me feel better, although I known Crohn's isn't any good either. Thank you!! I'm getting it checked out soon!
Hi Egb123,
Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry to read about what you are experiencing.
How did the appointment with the specialist go?
Please give us an update when you have a chance, we are here for you.

Hi! Thank you for you concern! They told me I should get a colonoscopy so I'm scheduling that, and we'll go from there!!
Glad to hear - let us know when your date is scheduled and I'll share some colonscopy prep tips on foods to avoid in advance, etc. Hope you can get scheduled soon!
Its on Friday!! Eeek so soon!
Here's some info to help you get to the big day:
-pick up the prescription prep from the pharmacy, read all the instructions and make sure you understand it
-pick out some movies or books that you'll plan on watching/reading when you are in the bathroom (maybe even treat yourself and buy something you wouldn't normally rent or something to give yourself a little self-care)
-make sure you have the softest toilet paper you can find
-pick up some wet wipes (but don't flush them, can clog toilets, even the flushable kind)
The most important thing is for you to follow instructions from your doctor and show up to that colonoscopy with a totally cleaned out colon so that they have great visibility. If there is remaining stool/food stuffs anywhere in the colon, it can make it difficult for them to see and that's not what you want to hear.
Check out this resource on tips of what to eat and what to avoid in the days leading up to the colonoscopy:

Thank you so much!! This is very helpful since its my first time! I appreciate it
Hello, hope all is well. Any updates on your biopsies?
Hi! Thank you for checking in! I had some inactive colitis! I'm not really sure what that means other than inflammation. Is colitis the same as ulcerative colitis? And just because it was inactive at that time, can it reactivate?
