First GI Appointment Complete & Bloodtest Results

Good afternoon everyone!

Yesterday I had my first GI appointment. It was okay, we set ups some beginning tests such as blood tests and stool tests. Depending on the results from those tests, a colonoscopy will be the next step.

My blood tests came back with a slight (in words of the doctor) elevation in my CRP levels. Stupidly I immediately googled it and google of course yelled at me that it means cancer. I know that increases in CRP mean that there's inflammation somewhere, and that this could very easily be IBD versus Colorectal Cancer, but I'm still so scared. I'm only 21, the fear of a disease that could kill me so young makes me stay up at night fearing for the next day.

I'm awaiting stool test results, I just got them sent out to the lab for analysis. I assume it'll be a couple weeks. I'm nervous.

I also lost some weight, but perhaps that's just due to me not eating as much. I still feel hungry, but I feel like anxiety has made me feel like eating less. I went from 215 pounds to 210 in 1 month haha.

Hi allysmith9 ,Thanks for sharing your update with us!

We can definitely share your anxiety and Dr. Google can be a dangerous place to spend time. Try not to go with the flow the best you can until you have all the answers, which really wouldn't be until after a colonoscopy (if they are going to order one).

The weight loss sounds like it is probably from the anxiety.

Just keep in mind that you are doing everything right by getting checked out by your doctor, advocating for tests, and now you are in the time period where the waiting game can be very tiresome. Also, there are so many possible reasons for your symptoms, and many of those reasons can be treated with medication or diet changes.

Hang in there and please keep us posted as you get results.

We're here for you!
