I recently posted that I’m due a colonoscopy after having a qfit result of >200 with visible blood on my stool, this symptom comes and goes (months between each time)
I have discovered today that Ulcers run in my family, on my mums side my great grandad had a duodenal ulcer, my nan had an ulcerated bowel last year, my uncle had an ulcer in his stomach & on my dads side his dad (my grandad) had an ulcer in his stomach. Some research I found the duodenal ulcer is part of the peptic ulcer family, also that these ulcers are hereditary, I still have my colonoscopy this weekend but would appreciate if anyone has any experience with these types of ulcers themselves?

During my clinical trial with an immunotherapy drug, the potential for my immune system to attack a healthy organ is a possibility. My immune system attack my duodenum causing it to stricture. We dialated it open several times and continued immunotherapy treatment. I developed a "nasty ulcer" which made me stop the trial and get a gastrojejunoscopy (stomach bypass). I was low on iron as the symptom. They literally attached my small intestine to the bottom of my stomach. I guess that would be a "duodenal ulcer" but not hereditary.
I would get endoscopies to keep an eye on things. I get one every 3 years as a part of my surveillance. It does effect eating and I'm doing ok. I just think it's a part of my new norm.
And all the best with your colonoscopy this weekend. You got this.❤️👍💪👏
