I just wanted to update everyone on my last post, I’m also hoping this might help to ease the mind of anyone in a similar situation.
I had my colonoscopy yesterday, the colonoscopy itself was actually ok, I had sedation which made it totally bearable, I would say if anyone is feeling anxious about it like I was opt for the sedation. I was very lucky I had an 8am appointment, I was first on the list so was straight in, there was no waiting around,.The prep leading up to the colonoscopy was absolutely awful, I could handle the clearing of the bowels, it was getting the prep down & keeping it down that I really struggled with (there was a lot of tears) It took me double the time it should’ve to consume the required amounts, some did come back up but I got through it & they said my bowels had been cleaned to a good standard so it did the job.
During the colonoscopy they removed two polyps, one was 10mm & one was 4mm, they were removed from the ascending part of my bowel, the consultant said these will be sent of for biopsy, he also took biopsies from another four areas of my bowel. I have been told these results will take around 3 weeks to come back.
Thank you to everyone that commented on my last post, I really appreciated all of the positive support ❤️

Good luck for tomorrow I really hope it’s good news for you, please let me know how you get on. I barely ate anything before mine, my appetite has been so suppressed it’s awful. Drink two was a lot worse than drink one for me 🤢
All of the staff I came in to contact with at my local NHS hospital were really lovely too.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. That prep is definitely not an easy thing but is necessary and I’m glad you made it happen. I hav seen people who couldn’t do the process and had to do a different method later. But you got it done💪💪👏👏❤️
Sounds like you had a good gastroenterologist 👍. It’s good you had this done. 2 polyps and some other biopsies sent to pathology. I hate you have wait 3 weeks for results, but keep checking your online account as as sometimes things get posted earlier than expected.
Another question … given what was found, what’s your surveillance looking like? I get watched closely with an annual CT scan and an annual colonoscopy. What are they saying you need to do?
Nothing as been discussed with me yet I’m presuming that if they are benign they will not want to see me again. I suppose I will just have to wait now, I will keep checking the NHS app though. From what the consultant said they believe the issues I’m having is probably down to the Graves’ disease. My weight is a massive issue, I’ve never been so thin, it’s awful ☹️
They will and should want to see you again. If they don’t, question that big time 😳🤔. The surveillance regime lightens up as you get clear scans. From every year to once every 3 years, etc. If scans aren’t clear, your still doing prevention.
I have a hereditary issue and will probably be annually checked the rest of my life. But that’s ok. Catching things early is the key👍.
well done and congrats, hope the biopsy will be good as well. Do update up on ur biopsy, last Oct I had a colonoscopy and I had 3 polyps removed, 2 benign and 1 precancerous.
I will definitely update. As one of yours was precancerous does this mean you have to be checked again for any new polyps? Nothing as been discussed with me yet I’m presuming that if they are benign they will not want to see me again.
Thanks for the update. That’s good. If there are no issues with the next check, the frequency of the checks should spread out. You’re doing everything you need to be doing.👏👏👏
It’s really good news there was no polyps or cancer, must be so frustrating that the colitis is back after so long. I had no wind or pain after mine which I was really pleased about. I watched mine on the screen too 🤣. I have managed to eat ok yesterday & today, I went back to work on Tuesday so I could get back into a routine to keep myself busy. I really hope the diet gets the colitis under control again for you soon 💛
I had my colonoscopy Sunday the specialist said no evidence of cancer but took two biopsies of some inflammation areas one they think is microscopic colitis, and they found piles
That’s really good news there’s no cancer. At least knowing that will put your mind at ease. Hopefully if it is microscopic colitis it will settle down & not give you anymore problems 💛
