Colonoscopy and polypectomy

I have had diverticulitis (and haemorrhoids) for years - when I get discomfort, it usually means I will need the loo within half an hour.

I found a lump in my sigmoid, which was slightly uncomfortable, so I sent off the bowel screening kit and had a colonoscopy and a polypectomy (which was clipped), four days ago.

It seems it might take a fortnight to fully recover... I do feel better... but I have avoided palpating the area - as I think it best to leave it undisturbed to heal.

The surgeon said the clip would go in a few days.

The polyp was on about 7mm diameter, but about 15mm long... but I had been water-fasting for 38 hours before the procedure, so it might have shrunk?

The polyp sent for testing?

Yes… but he thinks it will prove to be non-malignant.

Good. My mom's biggest was 5mm. And about 20 polyps were snipped off during the colonoscope. Peace of mind.

The polyp was an adenoma - non-malignant... but it might have turned into cancer.

My stools were D-shaped or crescent-shaped, so it must have nearly blocked the colon.
