I’m wondering how long people are waiting for a colonoscopy? Mine was postponed with no date due to Covid and they did a CT scan which was clear. This does not however see inside the colon. My esr levels are raised so the doctor says I obviously have some sort of inflammation but won’t treat me as he doesn’t want to mask anything. The hospital now don’t see doing the colonoscopy as urgent as I assume they don’t think it’s cancer but I still feel so dreadful, not sure whether to go private? Looking for suggestions.

I'm supposed to have a letter for one as it was on the books from last year I have to have one every year until thay say stop but I think this year it's special situations only like with everything else and also where you live may also have a impact on this as I have seen people getting this exam done but it seems more in usa than like UK but it might not be the case if you managed to get a Face to Face but getting control of the covid and keeping people save is a priority so doing tests safety is not easy be patient thare just trying to keep you safe
Hi yes unfortunately Covid has put everything else on hold but they know I really need this colonoscopy. I think hospitals are now starting to open more clinics so hopefully I will hear soon.
Yes that is true and it's good that you are keeping positive about this all I hope you get your letter soon as it's not nice waiting and wondering and good luck to you
My result was cancer back in 2014&2015 reason for the regular scans but I found it was the not knowing that was the worse when they told me what I had I told them I will beat this and it wouldn't kill me and other than a change in diet it hasn't really been a big deal not like having to live with epilepsy
I was seen by gp on 8 May 2020 and had the colonoscopy done on 1 June 2020. Had a cancellation appointment. Random colon biopses taken and a small ceacal polyp removed. Quick referral may be due to very rare benign tumour taken from stomach 4 years ago, lost 20% of stomach. Lots of other medical problems and disability. 74 years old, hope this helps. Nurses were saying to each other they have a very large backlog of work.
Please continue to follow up with the hospital to get on the schedule as soon as possible. Here's a link to Stand Up To Cancer's COVID-19 resources page, standuptocancer.org/covid-1... this may be helpful. Good luck and please keep in touch with the Colon Cancer Connected Community.
Thank you, the hospital called me on Friday with a date for my colonoscopy of 29 June so not too long now, I have to quarantine for two weeks before and also take Covid test 5 days before,
Hi I had one 7 years ago which was painless. This time it was a bit painful but they gave me gas and air which helped. Just a tiny benign polyp found which is good but I feel so Unwell, called ambulance last night. I have recently lost two close family members and had bad car accident, the doctor thinks I have physical depression.
It’s good you have clear results and now you can put your mind at rest. Depression really is a bummer, try some relaxation on techniques like Epsom salt baths and listening to positive words x
