Diarrhoea with bowel cancer

Help, my 87yr old father has bowel cancer which he is not being treated for. It causes him no pain and is growing very slowly, it does not appear to be spreading. His real problem is chronic diarrhoea which he has had for over 3 months now. Doctors have tried loads of things and are now giving him high doses of morphine based pain killers which have slowed it to a custard consistency but ruined any quality of life. They are making him very dopey and he is getting weaker by the day. Has anyone got a suggestion for alternative treatments that might help. He does not want any more surgery.

Hi I had colon cancer - not anymore - but to fix the runs I had benefibre / normally people use it for constipation - but not many know that if you mix it and put in small amount of liquid ( can't taste it) it hardens up stool. You have to experiment a bit - but it works. Don't drink anything for at least an hour after
