Dispersible Aspirin 75mg tablets

My doctor has put me on these in additon to Fenofibrate. On the leaflet with the tablets it states "Refrain from alcohol when taking these tablets" By no means am I a drinker, but I do like a glass of wine with meals and maybe a couple of pints at the weekend. Does this mean I can no longer do this?

Do you mean the leaflet with the aspirin or the Fenofibrate? I also take a 75mg dispersible tablet daily, but I just checked the packaging on the bottle I got from my local chemist and it makes no mention of alcohol? I don't actually drink alcohol myself, so the issue doesn't affect me, but I've never personally read anything about having to totally avoid alcohol when taking low-dose aspirin - if only drinking in moderation. Perhaps best to check with your doctor on this point?

One of my relatives was on aspirin for years and drank heavily, but it was the heart attack that killed him, not anything liver-related, so I doubt that one had to avoid alcohol with all types of aspirin.

Speak to your pharmacist. It may be that the interaction between the aspirin and your other medication may be the problem I find that the pharmacist is more than willing to advise you and in some ways know more than the Drs.

The notice about the alcohol was on the leaflet with the aspirin, so it wouldn't be anything to do with my other medication. I'll just drink moderately as before. Thanks for your comments.

I have checked my aspirin and no where does it mention alcohol, so maybe change the type you use.

I have been prescribed these by my hospital consultant, so i guess he knows best but it clearly states "Avoid alcohol when taking Aspirin"
