Has anyone here ever needed to use their Emergency Travel Medical insurance for a hospital stay related to their cirrhosis?Hubby wants to travel but he doesn’t go more than 6 months without ending up in hospital. Just spent 10 days due to sepsis. The week before he was 100% normal. I also worry about quality of care.

Using Travel Insurance
This is very good question. Where are you and where are you thinking of travelling to? We are in the UK and have only travelled here since diagnosis. Hubby was taken into hospital once while away and was well looked after but they had no access to medical records and were dependent on the information I gave them. So worth carrying all prescriptions and recent medical reports with you.
Everyone I know who has had to have treatment covered by insurance has been treated well. BUT you have to have declared the condition fully AND paid any premium load AND had confirmation that the condition is covered. Sometimes conditions will be excluded and then you are on your own to foot any bill. Please don't travel without checking you are properly covered. I am in the UK but I am sure this would be the case pretty much anywhere.
I’ve been investigating insurance for a year now. We’re in Canada and most will not cover him. Even those that will, insist on a stability period of a year. I have only found one that allowed a buy down of 7 days stability, but I’m not confident. There have been horror stories in the media of how the insurance companies still manage to get out of paying. We simply wanted to go visit family that spend the winters in Florida.
