Have you tried Avanti? They were the only company who would insure me with numerous health issues

You have enough to contend with....without the varices....you seem very brave.

I have Cirrhosis of the liver and had trouble getting multi-trip insurance. All the firms I tried seemed to reject me because when they asked if I had been diagnosed with 'Varices' I told them what it said on my medical report - which was "Possible Varices". So I thought about this and decided that actually this didn't constitute an actual diagnosis. So this time I answered (truthfully) no I hadn't been diagnosed as having them. And bingo I was accepted by Avanti! The cost was around £500 for European multi-trip.

I went with coverwise and it was very reasonable. I have polycystic liver disease and reflux.

Same is true for my hubby - we were able to get cover using the comparison medical insurance site, all clear do this, goodtogo insurance too. Not cheap - currently ~ £240 for a three week trip - but worth the peace of mind. I hope you get this sorted and have a wonderful time.

Hi bobbycat

If you would like to drop an email to us at helpline@britishlivertrust.org.uk then we will be happy to email you back with a list of insurance companies who say they will cover those with a liver condition.

Best wishes

Carol

I think it may depend on how far your traveling. I had varices prior to my transplant. I understand that because these are small veins, they could easily burst or be affected by the changes in cabin pressure on a plane. I personal wouldn't fly anymore. Which is a great shame as I loved to fly the Italy each year.

Have you thought of coach travel to Italy? As thats where I'm going next year. Touring to rome, Pompeii; sottento.then ferry crossing over to Capri 😊
