If you are planning to travel we would also advise that you discuss your plans with your liver speicalist so they can check you are medically fit and safe.
There is a separate website, here: on the 'Health Unlocked' Forum, for 'The PBC Foundation'.. The founder, Collette Thain was diagnosed with PBC years ago, when very little was known about PBC, and sites like this were rare. So she started the Foundation to help people and share info. It has now evolved into a wonderful community, as well as becoming a powerful lobbying force for its members and for PBC research. They work very closely with the leading PBC specialists in the UK.
Just search the 'Health Unlocked' site and you will find them. You can email or phone to talk to their trained advisors and they have loads and loads of up-to-the -minute info on the website. They also have info on Travel Insurance. However, it may be that you won't get a good 'TI' deal, yet, as you are so recently diagnosed - it can take a while for the meds to really kick in, and for you to adapt to all the changes and any side effects, and TI people will be bearing this risk in mind in their calculations. Plus, as the BLT say, you do need to discuss it with your PBC specialist. I'm sure the 'PBC F' can help, and even if their TI suggestions are the same as those of the BLT, it will be helpful for you to know the site is there.
PBC is a serious condition, and although treatment and understanding has developed hugely over the last 20 years, it does need to be treated carefully … Meanwhile, TI companies are purely in the business of making money, and they won't take any risks, especially on newly diagnosed people. NB Do make sure you tell the TI everything!!
