Yes it can cost you a lot more if you can find one to cover you. It's all dependant on disclosure of your particular stage of cirrhosis and if you currently suffer from acute symptoms, varicies for example.
The BLT has a list of providers if you use search and download it.

Shop around; as I have other problems, I paid £2000+ for the 2 of us in US for a month. Not sure if I’ll be able to do it again
Hi, I was quoted £1800 for a 2 week trip to Canada last June, I have F4 cirrhosis with varices, and other symptoms as well. I didn't think it worth paying twice the air fare to visit my Sister-in-Law, so didn't go😁😁😁.
Insurance will be a lot less if you stick to Europe, but I'm not sure if the EHIC card will still work post Brexit (OMG, I've just said the B word🤣🤣🤣🤣)

Thank you for your reply. At the moment I have stage1. but still worried about the out come of this illness and if i start to climb the last three stages, or stay the same. This cirhosis is all caused by medication. Gutted xx
Goood morning Bungalow68,
I have included a link to travel insurance companies who have approached the British Liver Trust to state that they offer cover for chronic diseases

I hopethis proves useful .
May I also suggest you discuss you are safe to travel with your medical team, particularly if you intend to fly.
Best wishes ,
