I am fortunate to be able to go on holiday abroad after my transplant was successful three years .

I have been quoted £800 for a years cover, that doesn't include cruises or America etc

Thank you for your help

I just do a search on the comparison sites for best deals at any particular time. Works for me and usually gives reasonable quotes. I do tend to just stick with single trip though. I go to Australia tomorrow and 3 weeks including my pre-existing conditions was £67.

That's amazing! Can I ask who with? I did go on money supermarket but it says Its unable to help when I've put in transplant

That quote was obtained through money supermarket. Have you had any complications since your transplant? Particularly in the last 12 months. I've never had any issues getting a quote and include liver transplant, crohns disease, gout and PSC in the search criteria. However, I've not had any issues since transplant of particular note. I did have trouble when looking for annual insurance, I don't think they like that idea too much, but single trip has never been an issue.

Hi. That's an amazing quote. I was quoted £2k to insure me and my wife (she has no health conditions) for a 78 day cruise around South America. I've had a transplant due to PSC then I got PTLD (means I need a twice yearly change of ureteric stent), osteoporosis and my GP prescribed me amlodipine to keep my blood pressure low (even though it was not high). I've never had covid but my wife did. I decided to travel without insuring my pre-existing conditions as I just don't get ill (colds, flu, covid etc.). That cost £1k (all the insurance companies I contacted seem to use the same health screening company).

Covid seemed pretty widespread on the trip, including someone on the same dinner table and people at my wife's art classes. (The ship had good isolation procedures. Those testing positive were locked away in an isolation area with only 1 hours monitored fresh air until testing negative.) Norovirus was an issue too. We got neither. Maybe that's because we have had all the covid jabs and take sensible precautions (avoided the lifts and stair hand rails, used the alcohol gel when appropriate. Maybe we were just plain lucky.

My approach won't work for everyone and some will call me foolhardy, but it worked for me.

Hi Peter What a wonderful trip and I'm so glad you avoided all the ailments.

I too haven't succumbed to covid. I was thinking more on the lines of not leaving the relatives with costs. Anyway I'm leaving my sister with a cheque so if hospital bills have to be paid there'll be something.

No zip lining or buggy jumping.

Yes single cover gets the most reasonable quotes. I've not had a transplant but still struggled to get anyone to even quote last year. Highest £2000 but after days I found the company below. It was £256 covering everything for 3 weeks to Canada. Since covid all the quotes , I had to include cover for everything I had no option to list but not cover. I had pbc/aih sjogrens and crest with no complications or emergency admission to hosp.

We have got annual cover for Europe for £126, for myself, two children and my husband with Tesco insurance. He has cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and grade 1 varices which he has had banded within the last year - all declared and accepted.

I’ve just been diagnosed with cirrhosis and already have type 2, high blood pressure. Am booked for an endoscopy so classed that as future treatment and couldn’t get a quote. Without declaring the treatment the cheapest quote for two weeks in Florida was £500. I have an annual policy with the bank so will phone later to add the cirrhosis and see what they say.

Hope you'll find a suitable quote Brett. This trip I'm on at the moment I've covered as a single trip and was quoted £40. I believe I've declared everything.
