Holiday insurance with liver Cirrosis

Good morning all has anyone on here been abroad with Cirrosis and can recommend a company for the holiday insurance please? I've been looking at quotes and they are through the roof! Some costing more for the insurance that the holiday 😳

Key thing for you is to make sure your doctor is happy for you to fly. Varices are the big risk together with infection risk.

Avanti are really good. Cirrhosis alone is only slightly more expensive than a normal policy…it’s the varices that push up the price. Also the annual policies are priced at a premium because it covers all eventualities. The liver is notoriously unpredictable and if you’re newly diagnosed they won’t be sure what they are covering. As my condition stabilised my policy came down in price. Depending on how much you travel you may find that shorter length policies are cheaper.

Staysure was good for liver fibrosis and portal hypertension when we went to Europe so may be good also for cirrhosis. They have a quick online tool which is easy to use too. Enjoy your holiday.

Hi, we use staysure aswell. They do a year cover which worked out reasonably too, we got family cover for 3 adults. But I think it depends on your symptoms when you fill in the online tool. Hubbie didn't have varices but had ascites. Its dearer if you want a holiday outside Europe. Happy holidays
