Since I’ve had the steroids my liver has been getting better I’m really pleased with the steroids also still no pain, still finding this amazing.
The only problem I have is this constant need to itch my body mainly legs and bum I can’t stop scratching myself. Years ago when this happened
I tried antihistamines, and some funny looking medicine looked like iron filings, the dr prescribed both but nothing worked and the itching eventually stopped.
Is there anything that works?
Would be most grateful for any suggestions ?
Many thanks

I was prescribed questran powder you could ask your GP if it's suitable for you... If not I also used to use a cooling spray what you can buy from boots for in the summer and that just cooled my skin down x
I wasn't on steroids pre transplant but on them for life now post and I haven't had any issues with itching whilst on them .... It was my liver causing the itching x
Always was worst at night for me as well I was putting everything damp on me until I went GP and then I had some itching post due to rejection and I found that cooling spray it was a lifesaver x
Hi. Lilybug. I don't know if this will be of any help to you but before my transplant I used to get that annoying itching in bed at night. You are normally at your warmest under the covers when it starts. If the weather wasn't too cold I would sleep with just a sheet over the most part of me as this would lower my body temp and lessen or even stop the itching. On really cold nights I would have the quilt pulled up but stick one leg out of the covers (that also helped lower my body temp and lessen the itching) and after a while turn over and stick the other leg out. It worked for me quite a lot of the time and worth a try. All the best. Alf
Last time when my liver was at it’s worse nothing worked it was awful I did something similar
I made my bed on the floor in the living room, it had to be clean cold sheets, not a spec of fluff was allowed on the sheets, couldn’t stand to be touched by anyone, my poor husband and my children didn’t really understand, I did go slightly mad, but they can laugh about it now, nothing worked so I had to wait for my liver to improve it did thank god.
I took one antihistamine last night it eased the itching, so I’m trying the same tonight fingers crossed
