Runkeeper 5k plan: Week 3 done!

My running is going well, and I am on my way back to running 30 minutes continuously.

Today, a 41 min session, basically 20 times 1 min / 1 min jeffing. And the audio coaching is really good.

First time I’m doing the Runkeeper 5k plan, and I’m liking it.

It is different from the C25k plan or even NRC in that:

- it’s 6 weeks, so shorter than the usual couch to 5k plans. This might be good for returners, runners getting back out there from a stint on the IC, but maybe not as good for pure beginners?

- there is continued audio and a coach all the way though the session, with your chosen music in the background. I initially had to get used to it, as I thought something was wrong with the app. But it’s like a podcast with additional ability to play music in the background. Once that clicked with me, I started to like it. Especially not being left alone for more than 20 seconds. Might but be for everyone, but great fit me.

- the later sessions (week 3) don’t really have a lot of time for a warmup walk. Session 3 in week 3 uses a slow 1 min jog 30 seconds after the start! That took me by surprise. It would have been helpful to have a 6 min warmup walk, but the session was already 41 minutes long. But so it might be helpful to warm up before hitting the start button.

But I really like it and think I will explore other idiots guided runs on Runkeeper! Sorry Coach Bennett! You’ve got competition!

And after my run, I realised that according to Runkeeper I have now run 1,600 km , complementing my 1,900 km on my rower! I need to think if a huge reward when I hit 4 million meters between both run jog and rowing!

Happy running, everyone!

Thanks for the info on Runkeeper, good to know about alternatives to C25K if I ever need one.You definitely deserve a celebration when you reach 4 million metres. As for the next milestone - C25M??? 😁🍾
