Hello
It’s been months since I posted to all the lovely supportive people here. I’m very sorry but I couldn’t face it as I had an injury, which a physio said meant that I might not be able to run again. I was devastated. But the amazing news is after nearly 4 months of not running I started very slowly again mid October and today I ran 5km.
In case this is of use to anyone else I will share my injury details and experience.
I developed acute pain in both hips which made walking difficult and kept me awake at night and I resorted to taking pain killers daily. I went to see a physio who diagnosed that it was the small muscles in your bottom that join at the hip joint on both hips that were damaged. This damage was caused by my running gait. My legs sort of ‘fell in’ and put undue pressure, strain and impact on these muscles. I was advised that although I had done everything correctly as regards the running programme from C25km right up to 10km, my core was weak.
I did nothing for 6/8 weeks. Then I used a fitness app and did yoga 3 to 5 times a week for 6 weeks and 4 weeks into that I started week 4 of C25km. I don’t know if I will get to 10km but I’m just so happy I’ve made it to 5km.
All the best to everyone.
Lindy
