I've been using Spotify (the free version) alongside the NRC app for ages now, but the last few times the music hasn't muted when the coaches speak. It's really annoying as I can 't hear what's being said, and I can't hear the music properly either - just one big mush in my ears.
Has anyone else noticed this or know how to fix it?
I can't see anything obvious in the settings of NRC or Spotify.
Even more oddly I've been fiddling whilst sat at my desk and it seems if I start the run and then pause it, with audio feedback turned on, the music mutes momentarily. Then if I restart the run the music mutes as it always used to.
Answers on a postcard please...

I don't have a postcard, sorry, but it's happened to me too, although once I'm running I dont really take a lot of notice, but you are saying, if I start the run rhen pause then restart it'll be ok? Great, thanks, hopefully Sunday it'll work 😁
I only seldom have issues, but I have found if I keep to a specific order of starting the apps, I’m fine. So first I hit play on my Spotify list, and then I hit run in Runkeeper / NRC.
In this order it seems to work ok consistently. When I do it the other way around, I have found I’ll run into problems.
In NRC the music button is not checked (crossed through).
I encountered issues with Spotify (free version) after a few months of using it as music alongside my running app. At first Spotify was my post-C25K saviour, and I loved it, but then it became more and more intrusive, with advertising I didn't want to hear and subscription requests I didn't want to sign up to - it began to ruin my running experience. So, I ditched it. I signed up to BBC Sounds, which allows me to explore all kinds of music and concerts, as well as podcasts, while running. It has been great and it never interferes with my running app. As a backup, I also created my own running music tracks from mp3 music files I have on CDs, and I play those using the app VLC - a very dependable no frills app in my opinion. So, if you don't overcome your technical hitch soon, try another source of music/words. Sorry about the large postcard. Good luck! Happy 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Yes those Spotify ads can really get on your nerves! I used to use Amazon music but ditched it in a fit of pique when I lost all my playlists!I have BBC sounds so might investigate that a bit more
