Nike running App and Spotify at the same time??

Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question, just downloaded and used the Nike run app which I love as it tells me when I've completed a km and time and pace, which is brilliant for me. For anyone that uses the Nike app, can you tell me, when it asks if you want to use music, does it have to be downloaded on your phone or can you link something like Spotify, which I know then means having two apps running. Is that possible, or does any music need to be physically downloaded on the phone??

Click on music 🎵 and select spotify

Just looked again and when I click on music it doesn't give the choice, it says artist or album and then looks on my phone, so can't see where I can link it to Spotify?

I put my Spotify music on first then start the Nike run app- I use the guided runs and sometimes their music starts up but I just go on Spotify and change to my playlist. So try starting up Spotify first 😀
