Help? Android and NRC Audio Runs

Ran this morning with my old Android again (in preparation for the time I have to send my IPhone away to be fixed).

The Android does not have a data plan (and I don’t want to constantly switch).

I am running NRC audio coached run, and I download the runs on my home Wi-Fi before heading out.

And for music, I now have downloaded a Spotify music podcast. Again, here I can download the podcast at home.

Now all seems to work when I keep both running.

But when stopping to take a picture (of glorious path, see pic), and then keep running, NRC has considered this as a normal tracked run without the audio guide.

So Coach Bennett is silent for the rest of the run.

Has anyone had similar issues and found solutions for this? Next time I will not stop at all to take pics, but it would be good to know what’s going on.

Otherwise run was nice. A good, solid run.

I never (or hardly ever) use any data on my phone (also android)I do exactly the same as you, I make sure what I want on Spotify is downloaded on WiFi and also the NRC run I want to use .

If I stop a few seconds to take a picture the NRC app will usually pause the run and restart as I restart running .

It has always continued as a guided run though.

Right. Thank you. It’s good to know it should work. I’m still wondering if I click the wrong buttons when switching apps (from NRC to Photo). Maybe I’m accidentally stopping the NRC. 🤔 will have to try some things.

Recently (the last couple of months or so) I've found that the NRC Auto-pause will kick in frequently and at random. It seems to be worse if I've set a distance to run rather than a guided run, and the only cure seems to be to end the run, go to Settings, turn it off and start a fresh run. Does wonders for my number of runs per week stats.I don't use Spotify so can't help with that, but maybe try turning the Auto-pause off before you go, then you can manually stop and start if you see a photo opp?

Gorgeous pic by the way, come December you can look at that blue sky and dream.

PS maybe you could message Daniel the Engineer and tell him you've found a way to make Coach B stop talking? 😂

Auto-pause: yes, I’ll try this. Very good idea. I’ll try it for a few runs.

And yes 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it sounds like Daniel would love my Android problems! 🤣🤣🤣

The camera app often uses lots and lots of the phone's working memory (RAM), forcing other apps to stop. The likelihood of this happening is greater with older/lower spec phones. You're always best doing a quick check that everything's still functioning after snapping a photo.

Yes, maybe that’s happening. But checking after taking a pic is too late then, as what seems to be happening is that NRC stops its audio guided runs altogether . I might just do a run without a pic to see if that works. Thank you.
