I would like an app which gives me encouraging words at intervals. The ones I have found are just paper plans I need a voice in my ear saying doing good, keep going, don't give up, just go slower but do not stop. I know I should be self motivated but I am not and I do not want to give up after finishing C25K

5k to 10k app recommendations please
I know what you mean oldperson47, I have not found an app similar to C25K from C25K to 10K, there are only apps like you mentioned but none as I know with what you want, perhaps someone else could advise you on what app does that.
Give Nike Run Club a go, it's an app to download and there are lots of guided runs in there, there isn't a 10k plan under the training plans but lots of different ones to mix it up and progress, CBDB made a spreadsheet for the 10k plan with links to all the runs, I'll see if I can find it and put link here.
I think this is it. healthunlocked.com/redirect...
Nike Run Club seconded. If you do the initial 4 week plan it will give you a feel for how it works, then, to build up to 10km I would suggest mix and match the guided runs to suit. You will understand how to do that after completing the 4 week plan. The coaching provided during your run in the guided Nike Run Club runs is second to none in my opinion.
I understand that apps do exist to get you to 10K oldperson47 , but the problem is that they have, by definition, to be distance-based. Because everyone runs at a different pace, it's impossible to create a one-size-fits-all soundtrack.
C25K, despite the name, is a time-based programme, not a distance-based one, so the issue doesn't arise.
While audio-coached runs definitely aren't my thing, SueAppleRun 's post is really helpful - give Nike Run Club a try.
Hi oldperson47
Nike Run Club app is I think the one to go for. I’ve tried it many times and I really enjoyed using it. You can download it to your phone and there is lots of guidance in the app and great structure of runs.
Hope you find one that works for you😂😂
Another vote for NRC from me. You must meet cheesy Coach Bennett. He’s very positive and encouraging too. The half marathon plan starts from 5k and builds to 10k within the first 4 weeks. There are 5 runs per week but I did them over 2 weeks and built the longer run up a bit more slowly, taking about 8 weeks. The interval runs are lots of fun and the guided runs are chocka block with advice.
yes, here are some which I have used in the past, that use audio / voice features:
NRC 10k plan (free) healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...
Runkeeper with automated voices keeping you in track. The different voices are hilarious. (Free)
Runkeeper audio guided 10k plan (subscription)
Zombie Run 10k plan (immersive story based on Zombies chasing you), can be done free but only one run at a time, so better to have subscription
So are the ones I can think of now.
Runkeeper has a free plan called "My first 10k" - I've joined but not started yet! (I plan to next week, honest.)
brill. I have a feeling that it might have only the first 3 runs or 3 weeks unlocked, at least it was like that with the 5k plan. So would be good to get confirmation if it is completely free. Well done for taking the next steps!
Swimming classes end tomorrow for the school year so I'll replace it with 10k prep. See if I can work up the courage/confidence to do a race the end of October! I'll let you know if all 18 workouts are free (but it may take a while!).
I do the Windsor Women's 10k race with my daughters and this year daughter in law. It is a small event and very friendly and my family come to check I do to die on the route. It gives me a challenge to aim for otherwise couch potato here I come
I know exactly what you mean about wanting continued encouragement after c25k. I’m doing it for the second time as I started off well after graduating then gradually gave up. I’m not looking to move up to 10k, just keep regular running and maybe achieve 5k sometime. I’ve looked at the NRC app and it does look like it might be an answer. 🤞
Definately recommend Nike Run Club app, so many guided runs on there including a really good range of intervals.
