On Christmas Eve I ran Week 8 Run 3 of Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan (Time Version) so am now consolidating with three runs per week of 30/30/60 minutes. May I have a shiny new 60mins badge please, MissUnderstanding?
Yes, it’s a great plan. I have chosen to consolidate for nine weeks then I will take up Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan (Distance Version) to get my running to 10K.
Brilliant. You could go more or less straight on to the distance version if you wanted to. It’s less important to consolidate at the longer distances when you’re more experienced (or so I was told on my graduation from the magic plan!). It’s totally up to you though-there’s absolutely no rush. Is there some reason you’ve chosen 9 weeks in particular? I’m just being nosey!
The reason for my choosing nine weeks 😁 is that I have grown accustomed to that (or thereabouts) as a chunk of time for a plan and it has served me well so far. Couch to 5K was nine weeks, so I chose nine weeks of consolidation after that, then completed the eight weeks of Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan (Time Version)🧐😁 before choosing this most recent consolidation period.
Having had a year rehabilitating torn Achilles’ tendons a few years ago which left me temporarily unable to walk properly, minimising risk of injury is my top priority so I have been cautious but steady with progress rather than safely progressing as quickly as possible.
I don’t see it as nosey 😆: it’s usually good to ask and find out more, so we know where we’re each coming from and how best to respond. 🙏👍🏼
That sounds entirely logical and a great plan. It’s so good to reach a point where you know what sorts of things are likely to work well for you.
Those achilles injuries sound absolutely awful. You’ve done brilliantly to come back so well from them. Enjoy your next consolidation period. 🏃♀️❤️🏃♀️
Thank you MissUnderstanding. The app, the plans and the advice in this community have all helped so much that I have been positively surprised by being able to come back like this. That's why you'll see me erring on the side of caution: I don't want to blow it.
Slow, steady and cautions progress is what we’re all about here! We’re all rooting for you to stay uninjured and keep enjoying the runs! Really good luck to you ❤️
