Tim’s Run in New Zealand

I’ve just finished re-reading Lisa Jackson’s book Your Pace Or Mine and in it she talked about the loss of her mother. She says “what running taught me about death is that running is the best grief counsellor there is and that each step can be a tribute to those we love and miss” Today, I drove out to Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve which is in Porirua, New Zealand and ran around the harbour’s edge on a beautiful, sunny day surrounded by nature’s beauty.

Thank you for reminding us Tim to embrace life Rest in Peace xx I will keep running and keep smiling

Beautiful pictures from New Zealand lexi6 and a great tribute to Tim. You win the prize for the most distant runner.

I am so glad that you are still running down under and hope you and your family are keeping well.

I must check out that book .

Hiya Dexy and thank you, yes I'm still running, not as often though in our winter, those Welly winds defeat me sometimes and although I don't often visit HU these days when I do its always so inspiring, C25k is such a great programme, isn't it? Tim you are going to be missed so much.

Oh my, Lexi that's a moving quote. xx

So pleased the rain stopped and let you drive somewhere special for your trubute run for Tim.💜

Smashing photos too, no doubt you were able to smile as you ran around that harbours edge.

I’ve just read that book. Interesting isn’t it

lexi6 profile image

It is TimeInNature lots of giggles in it too. I especially love that she doesn't give a hoot about her pace, except when she's trying to beat the sweepers in her races that is! I love that 😅

As a pretty slow runner I found it quite inspiring. And I loved her thoughts on soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the run rather than being so focussed on time

As a slow runner too I think that's why I enjoyed the book so much, we need to be kinder to ourselves and just be proud of our ability to be able to run whatever our pace and have fun doing it, although I definitely won't be running naked any time soon! 😅

It is, she takes the pressure off. I won't ask if the first chapter you looked at was "naked running!" 😃
