Just read that parkrun is hoping to start again in New Zealand shortly following their announcement of removing social distancing and lifting limits on gatherings. I am so envious of you lexi6 . Let’s hope it’s not too long for us in the UK but I fear we are still some distance away 😢

I will Dexy, Set the alarm for 7.15am this morning to take dog to vets for his surgery, which is the time I usually get up to get ready for parkrun, so I’ll just have to put my big girl pants on and be brave 🥶

I think I’d find it hard with a 8.00 start too Lexi6. But you have the incentive of being the first parkrun on Healthunlocked for some months. Go girl 🏃‍♀️

4th July is the big day, however, Lexi6 told me the other day that she won't immediately restart parkruns straightaway, remember July in New Zealand in like January in the UK.

Our parkrun email newsletter arrives tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see what they say. 🤞

Great news for New Zealand. We will just have to be patient for that bit longer😊

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to Buddy34

But they are launching (not)parkrun for us in UK soon.

AlMorr profile image

I got that e-mail about (not) parkrun as well, unfortunately all those runs and the virtual runs we have been doing since the official runs ended in March won't be counted with the official runs, nevertheless, I am still counting all the runs I do on a Saturday morning.

Like the parkruns in New Zealand, I don't think parkruns in the UK won't resume until social distancing is completely over and everything is back to normal.

I got my email last night... :) Perfect.. I like the idea of Park Run but still prefer lone running, so best of both :)

Yes but we won’t get times and it doesn’t go towards milestones, so I think I’ll stick with damienair for now 😊

But we can do both. It will be recorded even if it doesn’t go towards the milestones. Double whammy. Treble whammy if you count bacon butties afterwards.

Hopefully when we get back from France (Channel Tunnel booked for 2nd July, reading the runes 🤞🏻🤞🏻)

I do hope you can get away to France Sandie. I would have thought it was an essential trip.

Apologies Sandie for the delay in my reply to you, the 11 hour time difference is really difficult at times, but with all thats going on in the world, I don’t feel right about complaining about something so trivial I’ve not been on here or posted for ages. Its wonderful news about parkrun, you heard about it before me Sandie and AlMorr is right in that it will be 4 July at the earliest. Think I’ll hold off returning for a few weeks though, got a little lazy during lockdown having little lie-ins and the 8am parkrun start is very off putting in winter 😂 and my stamina has suffered a bit. Hopefully, the UK won’t be too far behind us and you’ll all be able to get out and enjoy your glorious countryside and summer soon. Hang in there and meanwhile stay safe 😊 x

Go lexi6 ... enjoy.... your lot did it right:) As and when the time is right for you .. enjoy it:)

Thanks OF, feeling very fortunate to have a PM who with her advisors took the hard decision and lead us into lockdown, surprisingly we’ve had very few lockdown rule breakers and on the whole people have been very positive and even kind. I’ve missed seeing the family and the cuddles, but so have thousands of others, a small price to pay, so its not right to complain! I hope with all my heart that the UK will be in the same position as NZ soon and meanwhile I’ve had second thoughts its my duty to turn up at the first parkrun for all who would love to parkrun but can’t 😊 Kia Kaha and stay safe. X

Just fantastic.... we are having a garden meet up with daughter, S in Law and small one next weekend hopefully. Summer Solstice...it will be good...better than face time

I fear we will be a long time recovering from the shambles created here.... I said at the start of this , when the Govt actioned things, too little and too late.

But it is as it is and we have to get through this by doing what we know is right.. unfortunate some folk around me have no idea of what is right!

Stay safe you xx

That sounds just wonderful, oh how you must have missed them all and they you and Mr OF. Easy for me to say from afar, but think Boris and his lot have lost the plot, definitely too little too late. Teacher cousin in Bolton says schools which have only just re opened are now closed because the R rate has gone up!

We are heading up to stepdaughters for Winter Solstice next weekend too, seen them once only since the beginning of March, so

very excited. Have the most lovely weekend with your family xx

At least I won’t have to worry about trying for a PB, 👍I’m guessing it will be very busy so no pressure, might be kinda nice. 😊x

Hi! Yes, I guess relaunching in winter could be a bit offputting. I’m the same - don’t usually get up before 8.30 whereas it used to be about 7.00! I do manage a 9.00 virtual parkrun though, as I set off from my own back door 🏃‍♀️

😂 and to think on one of my job secondments I would wake at 5.15am, then drive across town to start work at 6.30am. 😱 the only thing that gets me out of bed early now is earthquakes or parkruns.
