First run in the dark!

So after putting off my long run both on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, on Monday evening I finally got out there! And because I had a work function on until around 7.30, it was dark by the time I set out - so I got to use my fancy new waist light (and also put my head torch on the dog so I didn't lose her when she went wandering!) It was pretty different at first, but once I got used to the weird shadows bouncing around it wasn't really much different than running during daylight.

I am very glad I went later, as it was still pretty hot too - I don't think I would have made it if I had tried to go earlier! But it was down to 26 by the time I set out and with the occasional breeze was fine.

And as for the actual run - it was slow going, but I made the whole 50 minutes! As usual the temptation to just stop at 30 was there, but the thought of then having to do my long run on Wednesday instead made it easier to just keep going. I think to make sure I keep up with running consistently I am always going to need some sort of structure!

Fantastic effort in the dark. Forgot you were from afar when you said still hot - we peaked at 5deg yesterday but mountains sparkling with snow. Well done for making the distance, great to push through.

Thanks Grannytobe!

Yeah we are definitely dealing with very different weather conditions - it NEVER snows where I live (although with climate change who knows what might happen) - it sounds beautiful though.

I have run in the snow once before while travelling though, but I cant imagine having to regularly get out and motivated in those conditions! As much as I will whinge about it, I think I prefer to whinge about the heat than the cold!

Very well done! Interested to know how the dog felt about the headtorch?

I know running in the heat is hard, but I can't help but be a bit envious as I sit here in my jumper yet still feeling chilly.

She doesnt seem to mind - It just sits on her neck like a collar, and it seems to just let her see where she is sniffing so I dont think she has any problems.

And yeah - the grass is always greener hey! We now have another weekend coming up of 39 degree days, so I am not looking forward to that at all!
