8 days no running

I ran 5k last Monday and was happy with my time and how I felt. Went to work for two and a half hours, fell asleep and woke feeling quite ill. Up all night, both of us, day off tuesday, slept on and off all day, called in sick for Wednesday, lots of sleep on and off, up all night, Willow felt better, I began to feel less bad, crisis, can you work late, sleep in, early Friday, hey I’m off sick…..well I suppose if i don’t eat anything I’ll be ok, we wear masks anyway so I guess everyone else will be ok too.

I won’t detail work but Saturday came round, slept on and off, same Sunday, back to work Monday.

Anyway, today is my day off so I’ll test the waters and go for a run. 25 minutes, legs felt good, puffing a bit, slowed down, sped up again, let’s call these intervals, I can still run 😀 and it felt ok, I guess I’ve got over last weeks bug.

The pavements are uneven round here, some gravelly some just lumpy where they’ve been dug up over time. the sun peeks out between fluffy clouds and it’s a little cooler, it was breezy when I started out but didn’t notice it after the first five minutes. Saw a few people, smiled and said hello, now I’m back with a large glass of water, cup of tea, kit in wash and can relax for rest of day.

The run wasn’t particularly slow but my heart rate didn’t climb out of zone 2. Most odd as it’s usually high so I ignore it.

Run happy all or rest well

That sounds like you had a rough week. What a terrible state of affairs we are in when you get called into work when you are off sick. I reckon that social care and the NHS only keeps going through the commitment of people like you.

Glad you are feeling better and managed to get a run in 👍

Thank you, staffing is dire across all services, we are recruiting though

sorry to hear you have both had a rough time with your bug and your work, hopefully they’ll recruit shortly. I wish my heart rate was in zone 2 , think mines actually set wrong,

Thanks, I reset mine because the 220 minus age or whatever was way too low, mind you i’ve got a new watch strap so it may be sitting on my wrist differently, I know it’s not that accurate

Well done on that run after what sounds like a horrid week.
