so I set my alarm for 6.30.... luckily I also set it for 7 as I just switched it off at 6.30. 🤣. My daughter had stayed over last night but she was asleep on the couch under 3 cats when I left. She misses her little cat so stays at mine at least once a week, and sleeps on the couch so she can have them with her. HER Little Roma is usually out butchering livestock all night so it’s usually my 3 louts on her most of the night...and only occasionally Roma. Anyway I left them to it and off I went.
When I first went outside I though “oh it’s lovely and cool “ but that didn’t last long! By the time I’d walked my 5 minutes I was warm and the sun was really bright- glad I’d grabbed my sunnies. I cut through town and headed out along the river, luckily a lot of the Trail has fairly high hedges so a fair bit was slightly in shadow so I kept to that bit. Although after about 10 mins I was mopping sweat from my eyes. I got so fed up this summer of sunscream dribbling down into my eyes as I ran that I bought my self some sweatbands. I originally only wanted a couple for my wrists but it was cheaper to buy the pack with the headbands in too so I did. I look like a refugee from Steps, they are fluorescent pink, green and orange..3 sets. I wish I’d actually worn the headband this morning though as the wrist one was not enough. It makes my eyes sting all day!!
So I ran out for 10 mins, walked 1 min and took some pics, and repeated this again before turning and doubling back. So 43 mins total and 5k done. Not very speedy but I am seeing some improvement at last. After my bouts of covid I have struggled to run under a 15 min mile, then got it down to the 14s and now I am back in the 13s again..so some slight progress. At least the heavy dead leg feeling has gone at last. That was dreadful.
So lovely morning, lovely run and I felt good while running..so result!! The poor river does look very low though 😥 and some of the birds were grubbing about along the shore looking sorry for themselves.
