I keep looking at the weather app and seeing 16/17 degrees and thinking that’s not so bad and then running and realising it IS too bad!!! Anything above 12 degrees and I’m done for.
So I started off well, managing to keep my pace down instead of racing away as usual ( who am I kidding ? I couldn’t have gone faster if I tried). I Jeffed a bit to start with - run 8 walk 1 ... but after 3 walks I knew if I walked again I’d never restart running. So I just carried on at my slow plod. And even though I thought I wouldnt make it to 5k I managed to plod on .. even after the 60 min podcast finished and get to 8k. I was so hot and sweaty though by the time I got home. Only pink faced though not red faced as I was on Friday.
I do feel knackered now though. I showered and stretched and then my daughter asked me to pop up and help her sew masks ( she has a chiropractic appointment tomorrow). And it’s usually a 12 min walk -it took 20 mins today. 😳☹️. Oh well I have the rest of the day to relax now.

Well done despite the heat. I feel exactly the same. I know I have to add 10 degrees to recognise what my body thinks the temperature is but I still forget and then struggle. Getting home looking like I’ve been swimming!
Well, I didn’t really. I walked to my daughters, we made masks together, then walked back and had lunch together and then I baked- made quiches, jam tarts and cheese straws.
Sat watching Casualty with a large tabby cat in my lap while I crochet ..
Well done! It was 19°C here by the Humber and it was hot during my afternoon run. Like you I feel shattered now. Relax tonight and be proud of another 8k in the bag!
That was a good walk/run for you today despite the "heat", 17C isn't too hot but when running it can feel hot, the warmest I have ran is 20C but that was only 3K and felt quite hot, think of the London Marathon Runners a few years ago running in 24C for 26 miles in all those fancy costumes.
Perhaps you would rather run in a -6C temperature like I ran at a parkrun last year, you say your face was only pink not red, that's a good sign that you enjoyed your run.
I much prefer the cold. The first year I ran I wore a thin jacket probably twice and I only possess 1 long sleeve running top. Last year was the first year I had a couple of radiators in my house. And that was only because the one and only Gas fire finally broke. I think I used to light my fire about a dozen times max per winter and never turned it up full. Bedroom windows open all year round and I haven’t had a quilt on the bed since end of Feb.
This is why I don’t do races because it’s too hot by the time they start. 🤣
I’ve run really hot since I was pregnant with my daughter, 34 years ago, and never cooled down. Luckily my son, who lived with me, is the same. Whereas my daughter and other son are like frogs ( they share a house so ideal really), and always are cold. She’s been wearing a sweatshirt every day so far!!!! I can’t get enough clothes OFF!!!
Well done!! I'm really struggling in the heat too. Family member is shielding, so have been running on a treadmill in the garage, but even with the door open and the fan on I'm melting! I'm delighted with myself if I can get through 30 minutes!
Oh poor you!!! I have a treadmill in my garage too but my son folded it up for me in February, when we were tidying he the garage and then I could r undo it again when I was in my own for the first 3 months of lockdown so I just ran and avoided everyone when I was out.
I’ve only run on it once and could not get my pace right. 🤣🤣
I feel your pain...I and my heart rate don't like it hot either! I prefer 12 degrees or under too, but at 16 it's hit and miss.
Did one run last week in 17 degrees and full sun which was awful, then a couple of days later was 16 degrees but overcast and drizzly...that was much more manageable.
Yup, looked at the forecast last night and it said 12 degrees at 7.00am. So I set my alarm ....and got up at 8.30 and ran at 8.40 for an hour .It was 16 degrees again!!! 🤣😭😭😭
