Ouch

I actually remembered to take a glass of beetroot juice and put it, covered in clingfilm, by my bedside. Even more surprising I drank it at 6.50 am (then went back to sleep for half an hour). Then, once I'd done my dynamic stretches it was time for a gentle 5km recovery run.

Despite the gloomy weather and the threat of rain which didn't quite materialise we ran 5km along the sea wall, finishing up in the boat yard. They were supposed to be launching our boat today so Mr Yes detoured to have a word about it. I carried on, 5km done, intending to do another km before I finished as I was feeling pretty good....

...then....ouch!!! It felt like someone was driving pins into my left knee joint, the arthritis pain was back with a vengeance. I could barely put weight on the leg but had no choice but to hobble on very carefully back home. Luckily this seemed to help, after a short distance the pain subsided and by the time I was home no pain at all. I wonder what on earth is going on??

If it happens again I'll have to think about calling the doctor. I might need some more physio but the knee has been trouble free this past year, I honestly don't know what could have set it off.

I'll console myself that that nice Mr Garmin thinks I'm a spring chicken and has knocked two years off my age, I wish my knees would get the memo!!

No idea what was going on - from running to barely being able to walk to wandering home pain free within 5-10 minutes, weird!

Ooh ouch YLG, that does sound painful and you’re probably right to think about getting some professional advice about it - after a year when it was behaving you don’t want it to let you down now! But how nice of Mr G to knock a couple of years off your age - always a nice feeling! And you have a summer on the water to look forward to!

If it starts happening regularly I'll definitely get it checked out. I don't want to start seizing up when I'm jumping on and off the boat 😂

Walking definitely helps for some leg issues! Hope your knee has settled down now.

Big ouch, that’s what happens to Willow and he can often walk it out, let’s hope it doesn’t happen again

🤞🤞🤞It's been so long since I've had this pain I'd forgotten how bad it feels but I'd also forgotten how quickly it can go away. Commiserations to Willow.

Doesn’t happen very often now, good shoes and good warm up walk, when we first started running he hobbled home from most runs

It’s weird how sometimes it’s possible to walk or run through that pain. I don’t understand it but it’s nice to know that it’s possible. It happens frequently to me but as my new physio exercises kick in it’s definitely getting better. Hope it settles for you.
