Back to Keswick Parkrun again...

Inspired by @equi-geek's post in C25K about her battle with arthritis, I put on the knee-strap and running gear and headed out to Keswick Parkrun this morning.

The week since Emma, my physio, diagnosed arthritis in the knee went 2Km, 2.5Km. And each run stopped when the pain started, but the pain didn't last once I stopped. So today I decided to start the Parkrun, run to the pain, walk until it eases, then repeat until done.

About 1Km in this young lady in the bright @Flick-esque running tights went past me, the photo is blurred 'cos I was still running as I took it. Unfortunately she had got quite away ahead too. Inspired again!

In the end I got right round the 5Km, I forgot to start and stop the Garmin, so I have no idea of the time, I expect about 40mins. And that is a score. I see no reason why I can't do longer than 5Km now, as long as I Jeff it with the knee pain.

Happy days Runners.

Edit: Result 35.11mins, only a minute off the PB.

Well done Old! I think your plan was well thought-out. When do you next see the physio? I feel even worse reading about you striding on as I chickened out of running this morning 😁

Emma says, just keep her informed. As long as I have it constrained, and it isn't getting worse there is no need for another consultation. Since it's private I am grateful for that!

You need to buy some very expensive, very outrageous, very loud running gear. Then you won't dare miss a run! ❤❤❤❤❤

I’m so glad you could get out on parkrun today theoldfellow as I know how much you were missing it. It’s great that you managed 5k too. It’s a case of listen to your body and do the exercises in between I think.

I turned up at Parkrun today and asked if they had a task for a one armed volunteer. They said I’d be useful at the coffee shop as that is where people fall. Well at least I could provide a bit of experience there. Luckily no one did but for some reason there was a memory walk going on at the same time so I did have to do quite a lot of shouting ‘walkers please stay on the left’ as well as cheering on parkrunners.

That is a excellent time considering that you have just recently come off the IC, thanks for responding to my post regarding my first 5K today.
