Bridge 71 Grand Union Canal

I had a couple of days off and went canal boating with friends. Packed my running gear and determined that if I got off between bridge 71 and 77 I would have 5-10km to run back to my car. Towpath was nice with a proper surface. Well my friends pretty much threw me off at bridge 70b! I don’t think they could imagine running that far and were worried about it. It was so funny. It took 25 mins and was only 4 km so I ran past the car and kept going til I’d done 5km ✅ then walked back. A pint of lime and soda in the pub to rehydrate then the drive home. Lovely! I beat the 🌧, got to the pub just before it started, then had a drive up the motorway in the pouring rain, but was feeling good 😀🏴‍☠️

Sounds great. I do love the idea of running along a canal tow path.

Not any near you down by the sea. How about a canal holiday?

Walk the plank Baddie... you're gettin' off at 70b...argggh ☠️🏴

It looks like a pretty place to run. I'd love to have a path like that to run on.

Lovely. I must try some canal running at some point - I just love the water and that looks so pretty! :)

You've got a choice where you are, Macc canal, upper Peak Forest canal. Go for it!

Right. I've added them to my spreadsheet. Thank you. :)

All of my favourite runs have been alongside water. The first time I ran 5k without stopping was alongside Loch Linhe. It was lovely.

Our next parkrun will be round a lake, then we plan to spend the day at the country park, which includes beach

Certain! Maybe bossiness, I was teaching them how to tie the ropes properly 😉

I love canalside running: nice and flat for one! My first 10k event next week (😱) is along the canal where I regularly run: I was being kind to myself when I booked it!

Perfect planning! Sounds great. One day we should run towards each other on the canal and meet in the middle :-)

Or we could both run towards the same pub...
