It was touch and go whether this run would happen, I woke tight as a drum, completely tense. Started re reading the book Run like a girl.
Shall we run? how about the river? questions I asked which were all answered with whatever you want to do darling by Willow
Off we went, crossed the bridge, Willow ran ahead, as he does. Just warming up nicely, sun beating down but legs warming up. Willow turns, yup, he must be at 1k, as we pass each other we high five, blow kisses and grin.
The impression that’s strongest today are the smells, bluebells, primroses, hawthorn, daisies, cowslips and dandelions all mixed in with the freshness of the river, the path gravelly but even, doesn’t make for fastest running but steady. at around the 2k mark I started thinking about toast! oh I want toast and that’s my treat for getting out.
On to 3k, runners, walkers, , dogs, cyclists but there’s room for all. Most say hello
3k do I carry on? turn? split second decision sees me turn but rather than go back the way I came, I turn towards the river and join the rough track alongside it. This means even slower running, the river meanders away from the track and I plod on, walk a little run some more, admiring the river, ducks, swans and on the other side sheep with their lambs.
What I hadn’t realised was how much the river meandered so what was 3k out became 4k back. more a slow jeff but so enjoyable.
Back at car, Willow, relaxing and watching the world go by, I was just thinking if I ran along the road a bit it would be 7k when the watch buzzed 7k so I jumped in the car and we came home.
Stretches tea and toast
That was perfect and further than expected.
Run happy all
