Oh the hills round here

We spent best part of yesterday driving and arrived at our hotel around tea time.Twin beds??? Heck we didn't expect that!!!but we decided to grin and bear it and not let it bother us.

This morning I ran, Willow went to the pool and had a lovely swim and jaccuzi but I'd promised myself I'd run

It started fairly flat and I did a long 5 minute warm up walk because it's chilly out there

Turned left thinking I would do a square, and end up back at the hotel in around 5k.

Up and up I went, on and on, the pavements are wet and slick with leaves but I'm running slow, going uphill and having a lovely time, turn a corner and the road gets steeper, on and on up and up, slower and slower, ith views are stunning, mist rising and sun on the top of the hills in the distance.

Check the map, hmm 3k done and I'm 1.1 miles back to the hotel, keep going, beginning to wonder at these hills.

Turn, start maps directions, uh oh I'm now 1.7 miles from the hotel. There's a sign that says welcome to Pendle, uh oh

Follow directions, keep going and at last down a gentle hill. This is fun.

Turn, flatter, turn and steeper, slowly does it.

My legs say be careful, my feet say we are trying, if she falls over it won't be our fault, my lungs and brain shout, Faster, my legs and feet yell nooi!!!

Onwards downwards, what a lovely run, but I've now been out over an hour and beginning to worry I won't make it back in time for breakfast,

The road flattens out I think this is the road we drove along to get here yesterday,

Drop back to a brisk walk, my left quad is pulling a bit so walk back to the hotel, just under 7k and there's Willow with his son come to meet me, willow swam, Joe lifted weights and I ran and it's just after 9am.

Breakfast, tea, water, more tea and into a bit bath. I will swim later

Happy Saturday all

The photo is from the top of the hill

Have fun 👍😀.

Twin beds sounds good to me 😁. My husband is a big guy and I’m little so he hogs 4/5ths, leaving me with a bit on the edge and even less duvet 🙄

😁

I had a husband like that so I swapped him for a Willow (that wasn't the reason why)

sounds a great way to start the morning W&S. Beware of the Pendle witches, and the Accrington Stanley supporters!

Off to see the witches tomorrow

I wonder if Maureen in the shop in Newchurch still has her Ridgeback.

(My other half is a Pendle Witch. 😉)

If we get there I'll let you know, although it's looking like rain all day so it might not happen

The hill I ran yo just went on and on, and although slower than slow I loved it

The road up the "hill" that we live on goes on for roughly 8km, from about 640m to 1020m. I've only ever run up there once, during marathon training! Though it might just figure in future plans, come the Spring.

Oh mine was only 230m over about 2k so wasn't so bad, we have steeper short ones at home this just felt as if it was going on forever

Cmoi profile image
CmoiGraduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Hang on, only 230m over about 2k? If those numbers are right you were climbing 115 m per kilometer, that's an 11.5% gradient, more than twice as steep as the forest road!

It did go up a bit, mind you I don't usually look at elevation so could be totally wrong
