A treadmill walk + a treadmill slow jog

Hiya,

A bit fast to be posting again, sorry. But today after work I planned on adding a run after my walk. No going outside thanks to my hideous excuse of a face. I have a very bad reaction to too long use of cortisone salve and need to avoid people in order not to give them nightmares. But luckily I have my trusted treadmill.

First the first audiobook of Lord of the Rings by Andy Serkis in my ears for a 3K walk. For my treadmill walks I always start at 3.0 km/h and increase the speed every 2,5 minute. I reached the 3K in 46:44.

Once the walk was done I switched my Garmin watch from walking on the treadmill to running on the treadmill and started again. I planned on slow jogging and put the treadmill on 4,5 km/h which is actually slower than the end of my treadmill walks. Short steps with midfoot landing and this time I put some running music in my ears.

Honestly, I think it was too much together, at least for me. 3K walking and 3K slow jogging right after eachother... the slow jogging felt VERY heavy by the end. I did the 3K slow jogging in 40:06, but my legs felt sore and stiff when I stopped, weird feeling. Short steps on a treadmill are maybe too hard?

Either way, I have a rough 9K left to run for my Conqueror Inca Trail challenge. And I honestly don't know if I will sign up for another running medal, seen my current state of running...

Up, up and away!

Sorry to hear your reaction long use of cortisone. Hopefully it will get better shortly. I tried jogging on treadmill on holiday but legs felt weird as you say felt I was pounding and I just about fell off the back of the treadmill, I am a liability. Your doing well especially with your rheumatoid arthritis, . Take care don’t push yourself too much.

When running normally (that is still slower than you walk, haha) I don't have an issue with the treadmill. Of course, I did run 40 minutes in 1 go without walking breaks. Maybe that was also an issue as I am not used to that. But taking the small small steps made my legs move maybe a bit woodenly and indeed, this morning my legs are rather stiff and sore. Today will be a 3K walk and nothing more. Will need to see how to conquer those remaining 9K on the running challenge...

Slow running is very hard! Hope your feel better soon, well done on completing 6k altogether! 💪👏👏👏

Thanks and yes, taking those tiny running steps made me move maybe a bit too woodenly. In any case, I feel it in my legs this morning! But still, proud I did it. Maybe not to be repeated though, haha.
