Hiya,
I hadn't run for 1 month due to the combination of (1) having pushed myself too hard mentally to reach 10 miles + (2) the permanent gloomy grey weather which got me down + (3) having to run in my new running shoes. But today something kicked me in the butt and I wanted to 'restart' running.
I already had the idea earlier to do Start to Run. It is something like C25K but in Flemish and a bit different. Anyhow, today I was thinking to do this maybe on my treadmill (the thing I never use) in order to get used to running on the treadmill too. That way I can also run when it is dark or bad weather. I really dislike running on the treadmill, but why not try it and maybe with Start to Run I can slowly get used to it.
So around 10 am I grabbed my new shoes, poked the little stones and dirt out of the soles and cleaned them up so I could use them on the treadmill. Half of my running kit on, shoes on, treadmill on and I started the app.
Ok, so this Start to Run app is a lot different than the C25K app. In the first lesson you already have to run for 2 minutes straight for a couple of times. Luckily 1 month of not running doesn't seem to have influenced me too much and I had no trouble with it. It was 20 minutes in total and I did approximately 1,62 K. I use 4 km/h for walking and 6 km/h for running (can't run as fast on the treadmill as I do outdoors).
So my first run of 2022 has been done and I now plan to run 3 times a week with Start to Run with at least 2 times on the treadmill in order to get used to the treadmill.
I also started training on my hometrainer (stationary bike), having done 4 trainings in the meanwhile (auch my butt) and I plan on keep doing these too. I have done them now every day (4 days now), but I will probably do one or the other (hometrainer or running) from now on, doing something every day. I really like these trainings on the hometrainer and hope I will be able to keep doing them.
Cheers, Evy
