Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Easy report from me this week - I didn’t run anywhere!
Thanks to the grandchildren again, I’ve had a nose like a tap since Wednesday, so I haven’t run since last Saturday. I feel better today though, I’ll pick up where I left off with my HM Plan on Monday. 😀
I traveled yesterday with my 2 friends to The Hague in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 to get our Z for the alphabet challenge. We ran this morning at Zuiderpark parkrun. A lovely flat 2 lap course in a beautiful city park which was full of sports grounds. I ran at a lovely comfortable pace and really enjoyed the run. It rained very heavily beforehand but thankfully we did not get wet. And the rain stayed away for the parkrun. I finished in a time of 26:31. We are going to hang around for a few hours before going back to the airport for our return home. Happy running everyone.
Good morning Damien and other parkruners, this morning I took the train to Springburn Parkrun in Glasgow and ran my 118th parkrun, #23 there in a time of 32:21 with a +60% age grading of 62:08% which I am happy with, the weather was dry with a few sunny intervals, no wind and a temperature of 14C which is a good temperature for running, next week I'll be a marshall once again at the parkrun nearest to where I live which is Palacerigg Country parkrun.
Hove Prom for us this morning. Was a warm one and not much breeze.
They had pacers today and it was all a jumble at the beginning where the 35 minute pacer was ahead of the 32 & 33 minute but somehow it managed to sort itself out.
I tried to stick with the 32 minute group but struggled around KM 3 and slowed down - it was quite hot heading towards the i360. Thankfully on the turn there was a slight fresh breeze which was very welcome.
Didn't quite achieve my sub 32 minute time but finished 32.28. Husband seems to be going for PB's each week and for the first time made it under 21 minutes 🥵.
Enjoy your 50th milestone parkrun and very well done. I always find kilometre 3-4 the hardest, it’s when your mind is screaming at you to slow down. Congratulations to your hubby on another great PB.
Hello damienair and running pals. We were up early again this morning to head to our NENDY (nearest event not done yet), Netley Abbey parkrun, about 35 mins away.
We were on the summer course which is 3 laps of mixed grass, compacted gravel, tarmac and woodland. It is also undulating! There were lots of tourists, including a couple we spoke to who were off on a cruise from Southampton later and added last night to their itinerary to do parkrun today.
18°C and blue skies. It is a beautiful spot and not too busy with 276 runners. I was lapped by the fastest runner just before the end of my first km. We had run much of this route on the Netley 10k back in May, so the incline in bluebell wood came as no surprise. I walked some of the up bits and came in at 222 place at 35:53. With a bit of encouragement from UpTheStanley , I managed a sprint finish to come in 6 seconds before cruising lady, whose husband was less vocal. 😂😂
The most important bit was the N in my parkrun alphabet , my name and in parkrun. My NENDY is now Eastleigh, which is also undulating!
We visited the ruins of Netley Abbey afterwards and had a bacon sarnie in the local village cafe.
It's a lovely spot for a parkrun Dexy - Mrs JP and I often visit for a walk when we have to go to Southampton shopping (that Swedish firm beginning with an I!).
Good afternoon Damien and all. Back at home this week after Ipswich and Clapham Common. It was our ED’s v500 today so loads of cakes and then a meet up afterwards. Also first time we’ve run as a family in a long time as eldest kitten starts his path back to fitness. He’s had a proper Physio’s gait analysis and needs orthotics (which are being made for him). Turns out he’s got one leg slightly longer than the other and the way he runs puts a lot of strain on his left leg. Let’s hope the orthotics sort him out 🤞
So it was mainly a run/walk today on the B course, 4 lapper. We stayed with eldest kitten for the first 2 laps then finished the last two laps split up. I was happy for the gentle pootle as the last week clearing my mum’s house out hit me this morning and I felt shattered. Amazingly feel better now than I have all day - the power of exercise!
Back to touring next week, not sure where yet but somewhere between Stratford and North London as we have another Fordy meet up!
It was a bit of a surprise doing parkrun today as we were supposed to be visiting friends - illness meant cancellation but a bonus for me. We had a visit from Fareham Running Club who kindly provided pacers - first time at Lakeside for many months. That meant a bumper number of 379 finishers, the highest since 397 on 13/7/19, exactly 5 years ago!
As my current goal is a return to a sub-30 parkrun, I thought I'd try to hang on to the 30 min pacer - it worked for the first 3k (6.15, 5,44, 5.59), but dropped off significantly after that! I came in at 31.37, 10 seconds adrift of my fastest this year, but live to fight another day.
Brilliant effort Jonathan. Your fitness is returning nicely. You held on so well. That 3rd to 4th kilometre is always the hardest. Mind as well as legs are battling against you. But you’re on the right track and coming back stronger.
No parkrun for me until the end of August, as we are back in France. After a lovely warm and sunny day on Wednesday, we had an almighty storm here on Thursday evening, with even a tornado running through Eymet. Undeterred, I headed off for the 5k Friday run with the Eymet Runners, dodging fallen trees and branches, but thankfully dry again. Great to be back 😃
I completed my 250th parkrun yesterday! 🥳 I attended my first after constant friendly persuasion from a school colleague ( we have both since moved on from school). On that first parkrun, I was late. 🤦♀️ It took me to almost 2k to catch the tailwalker, then I stayed with her, chatting all the way back. I was not a runner then, hence my reluctance to take part (I couldn’t see the point!). 🤷♀️ But something happened on that morning. Parkrun stole my heart. ❤️ It is a fabulous community event that really sets you up in a positive way for the weekend. So 249 parkruns later I achieved my 250 milestone, I’ve had my eye on that green t-shirt for a while! My attitude to running has changed, I have discovered that I can enjoy the running element too and everything in between from volunteering, walking and the occasional PB. I owe my friend a debt of thanks for getting me to that first one. She was there to give a cheer when I got my shout out yesterday morning. I intend to keep going as long as I am able.
Yes, I can’t imagine my Saturday mornings without it now. Quick question, don’t know if this is the appropriate place to ask it, are milestone t-shirts still free? I was expecting to only pay postage but it was asking for a discount code. Am I being a bit slow? TIA.
