Hiya,
Today was a run day, but I did not trust the weather, so the treadmill it was. As always I Jeffed my run with 4min30 running + 0min30 walking. I decided to challenge myself a bit.
Outside I run about 7 km/h, but on the treadmill I run at 6,0 km/h. But today I decided to do 10 minutes at 6,0 km/h - 10 minutes at 6,5 km/h - 10 minutes at 7,0 km/h. Walking was as always at 4,0 km/h.
Finishing at 30 minutes, my watch (connected to a footpod on my shoe) told me I had run 3,37 km. I was happy. Until I calculated in an Excel file. If the treadmill gives the correct speed, I have run only 2,80 km. Such a desolution. But the most important thing is: I ran 30 minutes.
Afterwards I picked up my brand new jumping rope (skipping rope?) which arrived yesterday. I first changed it to the right length and then came the question: where do I do this?
I first thought in my garage, but on second look this was not possible due to a lamp + automation installation of the gate which hangs rather low. My or my folks' hallway (I live above my parents) is not wide enough. Not enough room in the bedroom. But in my living room it looked as if there might be just enough room besides the dining table if I close the kitchen door.
I first tried with my running shoes, but it felt too bulky. I decided to just try on my socks and that seems to work perfectly. Only, I regularly knock my ankles together, autch!
I found online a plan for 30 days of skipping and so I started with day 1: 20 seconds skipping - 1 minute rest - 20 seconds skipping. I'm not sure how fast you have to skip, so I just did something not slow and just below fast.
It went rather well, though I wonder if I don't jump too high. And of course, the ankles knocking against each other. It did feel like I did hardly anything, but I'll just have patience. The plan builds up, so I'll soon enough be gasping for breath. Tomorrow I'm trying with a yoga mat under me in order to protect my floor.
Cheers, Evy
